Henry Cooper Races to Top Five Finish in Doyle Lott Memorial

Star, Mississippi (08/20/14) –  Henry Cooper took his #14 Team Country Pleasin/Black Diamond/Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) and came away with a fourth place finish.

The $2,500-to-win, Doyle Lott Memorial was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Models and drew a strong field of twenty-three entries to the 1/4 mile, gumbo oval.

Henry qualified fourth in his group during time trials, sending him to the dash to determine the top eight starting spot for the feature. Cooper finish fifth in the dash to lock into the fifth starting spot in the main event. During the course of the feature Henrybattled around the top five throughout the event before crossing the finish line in fourth behind race winner, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, and Chad Thrash.

"We probably had better than a fifth place car, but the driver got tired," laughed Cooper.  "All jokes aside this new hot rod is really good, and hopefully some wins are just around the corner."

Leon Henderson Charges to Fifth in MSCCS Action at Jackson

Laurel, Mississippi (08/20/14) – Leon Henderson enjoyed his best outing of the 2014 season on Saturday night with a charge through the pack to a fifth place finish with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) at Jackson Motor Speedway in his L&D Trucking #10 Victory Circle/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Henderson went into competition with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) on Saturday evening at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) in the Doyle Lott Memorial. Twenty-three entries were on hand for the $2,500-to-win affair, and Leon started his night with a fifth place finish in the b-main. As a result he started eighteenth in the main event. Despite starting near the back of the pack, Henderson climbed through the field to record a fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind race winner, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, Chad Thrash, and Henry Cooper.

"Our team really needed a run like that," said Henderson. "The car was just phenomenal, and to be able to advance thirteen spots felt really good. Hopefully we can carry our momentum into this weekend.
