Central Missouri Speedway Plans 25 Nights of Racing in 2015!

(Warrensburg, MO) Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) recently closed the final chapter of the 2014 race season at the Championship Banquet in which Terry Schultz in USRA Modifieds, Brett Wood in Street Stocks, Dean Wille in B-Mods, and Leroy Morrison, Jr. in Pure Stocks were all honored as Track Champions in their respective race divisions.

With the 2014 season officially in the rearview mirror, key staff recently turned their attention to planning for next season, which marks the twentieth anniversary of Earl and Susan Walls owning and operating CMS. The planning meetings resulted in 25 nights of racing scheduled for the 2015 season.

Last year’s guest class format allowed the staff to review what worked best for the track, drivers, and fans. Earl Walls recently made the decision to add Lightning Sprints as a weekly competing class. The Lightning Sprints join the USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Pure Stocks as weekly competing classes at CMS. ULMA Late Models have six guest class appearances while the Allstar Midget Series are set to make three guest appearances in 2015.

To start the season, an evening practice session is scheduled for March 28 followed by opening night the following weekend on April 4. ULMA Late Models make their first guest appearance the following weekend on April 11.

Dating back to 1998, when CMS first introduced big-money specials to the region specifically designed around the three summer holiday weekends of Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, the CMS schedule once again features two nights of racing based around these holidays with various car classes competing.

During Memorial Day weekend, USRA Modified drivers have the opportunity to compete in two completely separate special events on Saturday and Sunday. USRA Modifieds compete for $1,500 to win with Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Lighting Sprints filling out the rest of the card for Saturday, May 23. Lighting Sprints will race for $1,500 to win on Saturday.

During the Sunday portion of Memorial Day weekend, USRA Modifieds return for another $1,500 to win race along with B-Mods, $500-to-win Pure Stocks, the second appearance by ULMA Late Models and the first appearance of the year for the Allstar Midget Series.

On Friday, July 3, USRA Modifieds will participate in a full program to determine the inside row for the annual $5,000 to win BBQ Bowl the following night. Joining the Modifieds on Friday night will be the annual $1,500 to win Street Stock Special, B-Mods, the third appearance for ULMA Late Models and the second appearance for the Allstar Midget Series.

Saturday, July 4 racing includes USRA Modifieds competing for outside row starting positions for the $5,000 to win 50-lap main event later in the evening. B-Mods, Lightning Sprints, and Pure Stocks will also compete throughout the evening.

The July 25 date features all weekly divisions plus the fourth appearance of ULMA Late Models. The Annual Kid’s Night at the races takes place on Saturday, August 1 featuring all weekly race divisions. As of press time, B-Mods are scheduled to compete during their annual $1,500 to win main event on Saturday, August 15, which also features USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Lightning Sprints, Pure Stocks, and the fifth appearance for ULMA Late Models.

The season concludes with special events racing over the Labor Day Weekend, highlighted by back-to-back nights of $1,500-to-win races for USRA Modifieds. Joining USRA Modifieds on Saturday, September 5 will be Street Stocks, B-Mods, Pure Stocks and the final guest appearance by ULMA Late Models of the season.

Action resumes the following night on Sunday, September 6 with another $1,500-to-win event for USRA Modifieds plus B-Mods, Lighting Springs, and the final appearance of the year for the Allstar Midget Series. All listed events are subject to change as the staff continues working out the final details for next season. All car class and general rules for 2015 are available on the CMS website. Participating drivers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with any revisions. Questions and concerns regarding rules may be addressed with CMS officials at the annual Driver Registration Meeting on Saturday, January 31 at the ABC Building on the grounds of Grover Park in Warrensburg, Missouri from 9 a.m. to Noon. The registration fee for weekly car classes is $50 until March 1, 2015; after which the fee increases to $60. The registration form is available for printing and mailing on the website under the DRIVERS tab from the main page.

As previously reported, several loads of new clay were recently added to the racing surface and pit area. As weather permits, track maintenance will continue in preparation for the open practice, which is scheduled for the final weekend in March.
