Cleveland Speedway’s Gobbler now pays $10,000-to-win for Southern Nat’s Bonus Series Finale

BRASSTOWN, NC (October 31, 2015)—Officials with the Cleveland Speedway located in Cleveland, Tenn. and the Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs have reached an agreement to extend the 27th Annual Gobbler race to a two-day $10,000-to-win event and will be the season finale for both the track and series.

The 27th Annual Gobbler/Joe Lee Johnson Memorial race will be 77 laps in length and pay $10,000-to-win and $700-to-start on Friday and Saturday November 20/21. An open practice session will be held on Thursday Night November 19th. Qualifying and Heat Races will be on Friday Night November 20th followed by the Last Chance races along with the main event on Saturday Night November 21st. This will be the first time in the race’s 27 year history that it will pay $10,000 to the race winner.

In addition to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series, the Steel Head Late Models will compete for $2,000-to-win, the Crate Late Models will race for $2,000-to-win, the A & B Hobby division will both compete for $1,000-to-win and the Pony class will be in action racing for $1,000-to-win. Qualifying and Heat Races will be on Friday Night along with Last Chance races and all feature events on Saturday Night. Drivers running in more than one class must have a pit armband for every class that they enter.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series tire rule for the weekend will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56.

The next Southern Nationals Bonus Series race will be on Saturday November 14th at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. paying $5,000-to-win. David Payne of Murphy, N.C. leads Tommy Bailey of Corbin, Ky. in the series point standings.

Cleveland Speedway is located at 2420 South Lee Highway in Cleveland, TN 37311. Directions to Cleveland Speedway are to take I-75 to the first Cleveland Exit (if you're coming south from Knoxville, take the Third Cleveland Exit), go east (away from Fireworks Bldg.) about a mile (first exit ramp) to Hwy. 11. Turn left (back under the overpass) on Hwy. 11, and go two blocks (past the car lots & Mr. Zip,) the Speedway is on the left.
