NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES JULY 7 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Gavin Landers of Batesville, AR and Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS were NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 15 winners, and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS took over sole possession of the point lead.  It was a limited week of competition, as rain washed out several events and created a shuffle of the Top 10 in the standings.

Landers drove the Mark Martin Automotive Rocket to a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series victories.  The first win came on Friday at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Landers followed that up on Saturday night with his second win of the weekend at West Plains Motor Speedway.

Stokes topped a 27-car field on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Bassett Hound Motorsports GRT.  “Dr. Dirt” was at Greenville Speedway tuning up for a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races on the ¼-mile gumbo clay oval this Friday night and Saturday night.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 15 races scheduled for Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS were rained out.  Drivers that did race in Week 15 competition were able to gain some ground in the battle for the $10,000 Championship.

Daspit finished fifth on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway and took over sole possession of first-place in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings.  Daspit has 623 points after a series-leading eight wins and 16 top five finishes in 18 races over 13 weeks driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star, also known as “Noah’s Ark.”

Daspit has one more week to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark of his 2013 season.  A driver’s season point total is based on their best 14 weekly point totals over the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season.  Once a driver reaches the 14 week mark, they begin to net points by trying to replace their lowest weekly point total with a higher one.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, who was tied with Daspit for the point lead going into Week 15, made the trip to West Plains, MO to compete in the pair of races at West Plains Motor Speedway.  Scarbrough has now reached the 14-week mark and will now begin netting points. Scarbrough will be trying to net on a 25 in his next race.

Scarbrough’s best finish over the weekend was a 13th-place effort on Friday night to bring his season total to 618 points and the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings.  The “Florence Flash” has two wins, seven top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 20 races over 14 weeks driving the Villa South Trak-Star.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished third on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in the Billy Riels Racing GRT and moved up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 576 points.  “The General” has three wins, a series-leading 18 top five finishes, and a series-leading 19 top ten finishes in 20 races over 12 weeks.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 15 action and dropped to the fourth spot in the standings with 569 points.  “Motorcycle Mack” has five top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 20 races over 14 weeks driving the Mackmer Home Buyers Special.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS finished second on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway and remains in the fifth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 545 points.  “Big Nasty” has six top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 16 races over 13 weeks driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO drove the Custom Race Cars Trak-Star to a fourth-place finish to celebrate his birthday on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway.  That moved Moore up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 527 points after one win, 12 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 races over 11 weeks.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS moved up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings after a 13th-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway.  Palasini has 518 points after four wins and eight top five finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks driving the MP Trucking Trak-Star.
