Reutzel is Outlaw Ready after King of 360’s Top Five

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (February 25, 2016) – Aaron Reutzel makes his 2016 World of Outlaws debut this weekend.  And the Clute, TX, driver of the Shark-powered Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution /BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car gets to do so on a pair of tracks that could very well be considered home turf.

“It will be good, we’ll get to have a lot of family and friends there,” Reutzel says.  “It would be nice to get that first World of Outlaws win at one of these.”

Reutzel enters this weekend’s WoO double at Cotton Bowl Speedway on Friday and Royal Purple Raceway on Saturday after posting a fourth-place finish aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry in last weekend’s “King of 360’s” Ronald Laney Memorial at Tampa’s East Bay Raceway Park.

The chances of a $10,000 triumph at East Bay looked promising until mechanical problems sidelined Reutzel while in firm command of Thursday’s feature.

“We came out of the box good, that one mishap put us behind all weekend,” Reutzel says.

Reutzel rebounded by racing to a fourth place finish in Friday’s main event, explaining that, “We just didn’t tighten up enough, fourth was all we could get.”

Still, that Thursday parts failure loomed large.  Instead of being locked into the top six in points and the front three rows of the Ronald Laney Memorial, Reutzel had to run a Saturday heat race and gridded the feature in 11th.

And it was tough going from the sixth row.  “Everyone was good because it was so heavy and fast,” Reutzel explains.

Reutzel still managed to work his way forward to capture a fourth-place finish in the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt machine.

“It was hard to move up much, we were definitely faster than what the results showed,” Reutzel says.  “Fourth isn’t what we went to get, but I guess we’ll have to take it.”

Now, Reutzel and the Wright Way Logistics/Walker Performance Filtration team turn their attention to this weekend’s World of Outlaws double.  Reutzel will be one of few on hand that has previous laps at Cotton Bowl Speedway, while Royal Purple Raceway was a frequent stop in his earlier ASCS Gulf South campaigns.

“Cotton Bowl was good the one time I was there, it was racy,” Reutzel says.  “I think we have one win at Royal Purple, although we should have won several more there.”

Home turf appeals to Reutzel and company for this weekend.

“We should have a good weekend, we’re looking forward to it,” Reutzel wraps up.

Clauson Win Count Climbs to Five with Circular Insanity at Ten Percent

Lonnie Wheatley, OCALA, Fla. (February 25, 2016) – Twenty races down, only 180 to go.

With last weekend’s USAC Winter Dirt Games triple at Ocala’s Bubba Raceway Park in the books, Bryan Clauson is now ten percent into the “Circular Insanity Tour” pursuit of 200 races.

He has another win to go with it as well, running the early season count to five triumphs with a Thursday night score aboard the Cancer Treatment Centers of America/B&H Contractors/Dooling Machine No. 63 entry fielded by Joe Dooling and Brodie Hayward.

The migration westward begins this weekend with a pair of World of Outlaws events in Texas in the Cancer Treatment Centers of America/Elk Grove Ford No. 17w Sprint Car on Friday and Saturday.

The past weekend featured a win, a charge from deep in the field on Friday and another near win on Saturday.

“It was a good week, it started off real good with a win on night one,” Clauson said of Thursday’s 18th race of Circular Insanity.

“We missed it a lot in qualifying on Friday, it put us deep,” Clauson said of Winter Dirt Games Night Two.  “We were able to drive up through the field to fourth.  We had a great racecar, we were just in too much of a hole to begin with.”

Then on Saturday night, it looked as if Clauson would pick off his second win of the weekend as he cruised out front in the 30-lapper.  But track conditions came into play, with the right rear not making the distance on the rubber down surface.  Clauson changed tires and rallied back to seventh.

“We put ourselves in position to win, but sometimes the fastest car doesn’t win,” Clauson explained.

“We’re happy with the weekend,” Clauson continued.  “We were dominant all weekend, can’t really ask for much more.”

This weekend, it’s back to World of Outlaws action at a pair of tracks that will both be first-time stops for Clauson.  The weekend begins Friday night at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX, before moving on to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, TX, on Saturday.

“Cotton Bowl will be pretty much a level playing field for everyone since they haven’t been there,” Clauson says.  “It’s been a while since we had that.”

Clauson looks forward to the trip westward after three weekends in Florida.

“We left Florida with good momentum and some wins,” Clauson comments.  “We’re excited about heading west now and ready to hit ground running with the winged car.”

2016 Circular Insanity Tour Quick Stats:  20 races, 5 wins, 12 top-fives, 16 top-tens.

Home-track title on Lucas dirt Turner's 2016 goal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA CONTACT: Lyndal Scranton (Lscranton755@gmail.com)

Wheatland, MO (February 25, 2016) - With a half-dozen track championships during an 18-year racing career, Eric Turner has plenty to brag about when flashing his dirt-track resume.

But there's one missing jewel that Turner desperately wants to add.

"Winning a championship at Wheatland would mean more to me than any of them," Turner said of the Pitts Home USRA Modified division at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Turner, 38, has been close a few times since the speedway - located about five minutes from his home in Hermitage - opened in its current multi-million dollar sparkling form 10 years ago. He was third last season, behind Jeff Cutshaw and Jason Russell in the top-mod class, but never got fully rolling in dividing seat time between two cars.

This year, he plans to campaign a GRT owned by Christine and Richard Smith from Kansas City.

"We're going to run for a championship at Wheatland. That's our goal and it was our last year, too," Turner said. "This year I'm back in my GRT, in more of a comfort zone where I know a little bit more about what I need to do.

"Last year, I struggled all year long. I sort of lacked that edge to be in the top three where I could dig and get a shot at two or three wins. I just never could get the Hughes (Chassis) car to my liking. At least with the GRT, I kind of have a baseline to go by."

Turner knows it'll be difficult. He calls the USRA Mod division at Lucas Oil Speedway "by far the best it's been."

"We used to have three or four guys that could run for a win and now it's probably seven or eight," he added. "It's almost doubled within just the last five years. That's a lot for a local track. Last year, you have to work your butt off just to keep from having to race your way into the feature through the 'B' (feature)."

Turner isn't sure, but he believes one of his track championships in a Modified came at the old Wheatland Raceway, a forerunner of the current racing complex. His other championships came at Dallas County Speedway in Urbana and Springfield Raceway.

The "new" Lucas Oil Speedway is dear to Turner's heart because he befriended Lucas Oil founder and speedway owner Forrest Lucas when Lucas built the complex.

Lucas Oil and Forrest Lucas' MAV-TV have been prominent on Turner's cars over the last decade.

"We've kind of been a partnership since the time they've been here," Turner said of the Lucas family. "I would like to win one championship for them. It's not like Forrest needs the exposure, but I would like to win a championship with his name on the car real big."

Along with Lucas Oil and MAV-TV, Turner welcomes back Henryetta Ford, RacinDirt.com and Smith Racing as sponsors.

Before the Modified fires up, Turner is going to have a little Late Model fun. He's scheduled to fly to the west coast on Friday and, through some past acquaintances, drive a Late Model at Las Vegas Speedway next week.

"After that, we'll get back, turn around and get the Modified out," Turner said. "We're all geared up and ready."
