Shane Clanton Conquers Quincy; Another Busy Week Ahead

Zebulon, Georgia (08/01/16) – Shane Clanton pushed his 2016-win tally to eight behind the wheel of his Weldbank Energy #25 Super K Express/ Capital Race Car/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model during the course of last weekend’s action. His latest victory came on Thursday night at Quincy Raceways with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series.

“We had a really good car all night there at Quincy, and it really came to life the second half of the race,” said Clanton. “It was a bit of redemption to win this race because last year we had it won until a lapped car got us with just a couple of laps remaining.”

Returning with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series, Shane Clanton visited Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) on Thursday night for the Workforce 40. Following a runner-up finish in his heat behind Bobby Pierce, Clanton earned the pole position for the feature. After losing the lead early, Shane outdueled Brian Shirley to pick up his eighth win of the season with Rick Eckert, Shirley, Bobby Pierce, and Steve Casebolt rounding out the Top 5. Clanton claimed a $8,000 payday for his triumph in the 40-lap A-Main.

Friday night brought the WoO followers to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) for the two-day 27th Annual Prairie Dirt Classic. After failing to make the call for time trials due to mechanical issues, Shane stormed from the tail of the field to capture a heat race win. Later that night he also competed in the unsanctioned FALS Draw. He received the 9th starting spot for the 25-lap, $5,000-to-win affair. He would be collected in an early-race melee before rebounding to finish 12th.

Via his heat race win on Friday evening, Shane started 5th in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series sanctioned $27,000-to-win feature on Saturday night. Moving into a battle for the lead by lap 50, Clanton went on to record a podium finish in the 100-lapper, notching a 3rd place finish behind Josh Richards and Dennis Erb Jr. Don O’Neal and Shannon Babb rounded out the Top 5.

Shane is currently second in the WoO points standings. Full results are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

WoO Craftsman Late Model Series action resumes for Clanton on Tuesday night with an $8,000-to-win affair at the ½-mile confines of Shawano Speedway (Shawano, Wisconsin). From there the action shifts west to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for the 29th Annual USA Nationals. On Thursday evening a $6,000-to-win program will be contested. Mark Burch Motorsports and Lasoski Rally From 24th to 10th at Knoxville

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2016) - Mark Burch Motorsports is heading into this week's 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals seeking to continue its success at the marquee event hosted by Knoxville Raceway.

Danny Lasoski has piloted the team to three preliminary night wins in the last four seasons while Mark Burch Motorsports has earned a top-10 finish during the finale each of those four years.

"I'm glad we spent the last two weekends in Knoxville because we needed to get our race car tuned up," Lasoski said. "Mark is working hard to get us where we need to be."

The team competed at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday and for the second straight weekend they battled from the back to post a top 10 during the main event.

"Mark is working his rear off to get our qualifying better," Lasoski said. "We weren't quite right to start the night."

Lasoski timed in fifth quickest in his group before he placed sixth in a heat race to miss locking into the main event by only one position. That forced him to run a B Main, where a runner-up result earned a transfer into the 24th starting position for the main event.

"We're better when the track slicks off at the end of the night," Lasoski said. "I worked hard to get to the top 10. I would have liked to get further, but the first 14 cars are way easier to pass than the last 10."

Lasoski charged from 24th to the 10th-place finish to give the team 21 cars passed in the last two features at Knoxville Raceway.

The team will return to the half-mile oval for the 360 Knoxville Nationals this Thursday through Saturday.

In other news, Mark Burch Motorsports would like to thank everyone who supported the Team Jack Foundation by purchasing a unique t-shirt. All sales of the apparel will go to the Team Jack Foundation. The t-shirts will be available at each race Mark Burch Motorsports contests throughout the season.

Bruce Jr. Earns Top 10 Heading into 360 Knoxville Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - SEDALIA, Mo. (Aug. 1, 2016) - Tony Bruce Jr. garnered his 11th top 10 of the season last Thursday at Missouri State Fair Speedway.

Unfortunately, the result came sooner in the night than he and car owner Jeff Smith hoped for during the ASCS Warrior Region event.

"We were fighting engine issues," Bruce Jr. said. "In the heat race we didn't have close to the speed we should have. We knew there was something wrong and we couldn't find it in time."

The team advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race. That ranked them 10th in overall points to narrowly miss the feature redraw. Bruce Jr. started the main event on the outside of the fifth row.

"We had a really good car, but the motor didn't feel completely up to power," he said. "Whenever you're under power on a half mile you're not operating like you could be. To be running where we were shows how good the program Jeff has built is."

Bruce Jr. was running sixth approximately 10 laps into the main event when mechanical problems relegated the team to the pits with a 10th-place finish.

Bruce Jr. and Smith are slated to return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals.

"Hopefully we can get a good time trial," Bruce Jr. said. "Unfortunately, that's the name of the game for the Nationals. You have to go out at the right time and hit your marks at the same time. That will set you up for the rest of the week."

Swindell Teaming Up With Rains for Run at 360 Knoxville Nationals Title

Inside Line Promotions - GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Aug. 1, 2016) - Sammy Swindell is 4-for-4 during his Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals career.

Swindell has recorded a top-five finish during all four of his main events at the prestigious event at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and he is aiming to continue that streak during the 26th edition this weekend when he will drive for A.G. Rains.

The duo has teamed up twice with a runner-up result during their debut late last season and a win earlier this year.

"It's been pretty good," Swindell said. "Him and his dad have been friends (of mine) for a very long time. I've helped them with some of their racing stuff and they've helped me with a few things. We've been around each other for probably 30 years or more.

"It'll be a big challenge because the tracks we've run on have been smaller. This will be a whole different scenario for us. I'm pretty confident. If everything lines up right we should be competitive right away. It's always tough. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are coming into a race that's this big with this many cars it's going to be a challenge."

Swindell, who placed second during his 360 Knoxville Nationals preliminary night before ending fifth during the finale last year, has competed at Knoxville Raceway nine times this season in the 410ci division. He has earned two wins and five straight top fives.

"The tire rules have been different," he said. "This will be the first time running that car with this left rear tire. The things we've learned from the 410 will transfer over somewhat in that respect to this race."

Despite the challenges of a new partnership and different rules, Swindell said the goal is to win his first career 360 Knoxville Nationals title.

"That's the reason for doing it," he said. "This is on a bigger stage and more of a challenge. If we do it it'll be a big achievement."
