“We were just biding our time there early in the race, trying to save our equipment, and it all paid off,” Clanton said with a smile in victory lane. “The track was just great tonight, and our car really came in late in the race. Again I have to say a special thanks to Weldbank Energy, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, VP Racing Fuels, Clements Racing Engines, Capital Race Cars, and all of my great sponsors for their support.”

Via preliminary action Moyer Jr. earned the pole position on the twenty-four car grid for the $1,500-to-win affair. During the race’s early stages he had to fend away advances for the top spot from Jared Landers, and in the late going it was Justin Asplin, who challenged for the lead. Despite the best efforts of his competitors, Billy Moyer Jr. would be able to wire the field in the feature for his first win of the season. Asplin, Jeff Roth, Randy Roth, and Greg Hughes rounded out the top five finishers.

“The first win of the year always feels good, and to get it at West Plains, where my family and I have so much history really means a lot,” commented Moyer Jr. “I know a lot of people are surprised to see me back in the car so soon after my announcement of an indefinite leave a month or so ago. I wasn’t sure initially how much time I would need as a break. “He concluded by saying, “I’m still taking things day to day as far as my racing schedule, and trying to find that perfect balance. Right now though I feel really good about where I’m at with everything.”
