FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BEAR LAKE, PA – Aug. 31, 2010 – Twelve days later, Chub Frank is returning to Mohawk International Raceway in Akwesasne, N.Y., to try finishing what he started. After setting fast time and winning a heat during the four-tenths-mile track’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Battle At Eastern Door’ weekend qualifying program on Aug. 20, Frank and the rest of the national tour’s traveling stars watched rain postpone the following night’s $20,000-to-win, 100-lap A-Main to Wed., Sept. 1. Now he’s hoping to pick up where he left off when he rolls his Rocket No. 1* back on the track. “We just need a good top-five finish up there,” Frank said of the refurbished facility in upstate New York. “It feels good that we finally got a fast time and won a heat (on the WoO LMS) this year, but we’ll see what happens in the feature. It’s a hundred laps so nobody knows what to expect, but I think it’ll probably slick up and I don’t know if our stuff’s good enough in the slick yet. Frank, 48, of Bear Lake, Pa., will join the two other heat winners and three prelim runners-up on Aug. 20 in a redraw Wednesday night for the top-six starting spots in the 100-lapper. His car will also once again carry the logo for Twin Leaf Convenience Gas & Tobacco, a business on the St. Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation that is operated by Mohawk International DIRTcar 358-Modified regular Carey Terrance, who made a deal to drive Frank’s backup car in the ‘Battle At Eastern Door.’ Terrance fell one spot short of transferring through a heat race on Aug. 20, so he’ll run the B-Main on Wednesday evening. Frank’s visit to Mohawk on Aug. 20-21 came in the middle of a busy Northeast swing for the WoO LMS. After the opening event on Aug. 18 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., was rained out, Frank registered finishes of seventh (started 12th) on Aug. 19 at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y.; ninth (started 10th) on Aug. 23 at Quebec’s Autodrome Drummond; and 10th (started eighth) on Aug. 24 at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway. All three events were contested over the 50-lap distance. “I think the car was pretty good (during the stretch of action),” Frank said of the former Gregg Satterlee-driven Rocket machine that he recently purchased and, unfortunately, had to rebuild after flipping it in a multi-car tangle on July 30 at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park. “We’ve just been missing on tires (compound choice) way too much and we gotta quit doing that. You hate to ruin your night by picking the wrong tires.” Frank’s WoO LMS trip through the Northeast was highlighted by one very unique sight: at the Autodrome Drummond event, there was an army of five Chub Frank Racing-affiliated cars lined up in the pit area ready for action. Frank fielded his backup car for Terrance once again; French Canadian Peter Mantha Jr. drove the CFR-prepared car that he owns (and allows Chub to use as a backup); and Frank’s cousin, Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs, entered the race with his own machine and put DIRTcar big-block and 358-Modified driver Dale Planck, who drives for Terrance’s team, in his backup mount. Planck enjoyed the best night of the group, finishing 12th in his dirt Late Model debut; Terrance placed 18th, while Mantha was 19th and Briggs finished 20th. For more information on Chub Frank, visit his Web site at www.chubfrank.com. Chub Frank Racing receives support from many valued sponsors, including Corry Rubber, Lake Shore Paving, Hino Toyota, Crown Drilling, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, All-Star Performance, Slavic Corporation, Custom Race Engines, GW Performance, Integra Shocks and Hoosier Tire. For Immediate Release Eric Turner Set For 39th Annual Four State Championship Hermitage, Missouri (09/01/10) – Eric Turner will enter a single event over the Labor Day weekend as he takes his #99T Rushin Towing/Swaffords Amoco/Larry Shaw/Hatfield Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in the 39th Annual Four State Dirt Track Championship on Sunday night. Last weekend, Eric entered a pair of $5,000 to win MARS/UMP Challenge events. On Friday, August 27th the festivities got underway at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky with 33 Super Late Models on hand. After finishing fourth in his heat race, Turner qualified for the main event, which would see him battle his way to a 10th place finish on the lightning fast 1/2 mile. On Saturday night, August 28th the action shifted to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri for another $5,000 to win event. Forty Super Late Models entered the event and via passing points, Turner fell just short of qualifying for the main event in heat race action. He would go on to finish second in his b-main to qualify for the main event, where he would finish in the 19th position in the final rundown. This Sunday, September 5th Eric will resume action with the Mid America Racing Series (MARS) in the 39th Annual Four State Dirt Track Championship, which will pay $4,000 to win the winner at Monett Speedway (Monett, MO).
