NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – The battle for the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Championship tightened up after Week 21 competition.  Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL continues to lead the point standings, but a win by Trey Bright of Coker, AL enabled him to close to within one point of Spears.

                Spears has a best 14 week total of 688 points after netting three points with a third-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the rossdesignz.com Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.  Spears has seven wins, 15 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 20 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races.

                Bright picked up his eighth win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the AKA Cores Chevrolet to net seven points.  Bright has a best 14 week total of 687 points after eight wins, 15 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 21 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races.

                Looking ahead to Week 22 of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division 27-week season, Spears will be looking to net on a 47, which means he will have to finish third or better to gain any points.  Bright will be trying to net on a 46, which means he has to finish fourth or better to gain any points.

                Dave Nations of Raymond, MS did not compete in Week 21 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competition, but remains third in the standings with a best 14 week total of 650 points.  Nations has one win, nine top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 15 races driving the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.  Nations is looking to net on a 41.

                Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA finished ninth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS to reach the 14 week mark of his season with 639 points and climb up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings.  Flynn has eight wins, 13 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 17 races driving the Flynn Racing Chevrolet.  Flynn will now be trying to net on a 25 in an effort to close in on the point leaders.

                Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 627 points after six top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes driving the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Leftwich finished eighth on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park and was able to net two points.  Leftwich will be looking to net on a 41 in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 22 competition.

                Wayne Medders of Morton, MS is sixth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 626 points, and did not net any points in Week 21 action after finishing outside the Top 10 on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.  Medders has five top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 22 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races driving the Medders Construction Chevrolet.  Medders is trying to net on a 41.

                Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 623 points after two wins, 13 top five finishes and 19 top ten finish in 21 races.  Willis drove the Willis Racing Chevrolet to a tenth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park to net four points, and will now be looking to net on a 38.

                Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS is eighth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 607 points after nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 18 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races driving the Hiers Construction Chevrolet.  Hiers finished 11th on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park to net six points and he will now be looking to net on a 38.

                Charles Coan of Danville, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 588 points after eight top ten finishes in 15 races driving the Coan Racing Chevrolet.  Coan did not compete in Week 21 competition and will be looking to net on a 41.

                Calvin Cook of Pace, FL remains a NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division title contender, as he moved up to the tenth spot in the standings with 576 points after two wins, 13 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 races with two more weeks to earn full points.  Cook finished eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Foam Seal Insulation Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 21 action, Rocky DeGruy of Denham Springs, LA drove the Westside Oil Recovery Buick to his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in a race co-sanctioned with the Mississippi Street Stock Series.

                Kendall Keating of Lacombe, LA drove the Keating Racing Special to his second straight NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL took his second straight win at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Riddle Racing Chevrolet. 

Rodney Wing of Meridian, MS was a first time NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division winner on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.
