FANS GET A NEW LOOK AT SUPER LATE MODEL RACING ON SATURDAY AT 411 MOTOR SPEEDWAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Race fans will get a new look at super late model racing this Saturday night when 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN hosts a 50-lap $3,000-to-win $300-to-start Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series race.  The Chevy Super Series brings the sport of dirt track racing up close and personal with new super late model innovations and opportunities.

It all begins when a race fan pulls into the parking lot at 411 Motor Speedway this Saturday.  Chances are, they may have driven to the track in a new Chevrolet powered by an LS3 engine that comes in the Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Camaro, and the Chevrolet SS.

Once they park their car and purchase a ticket, they can grab a famous 411 Motor Speedway Cheeseburger and enter the Chevy Fan Zone between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The majority of fans that buy a ticket to a super late model race, sit in the stands, and they see a car with a number on the door, and find out from the announcer the name of the driver in each numbered car.  With the exception of a trackside interview where they can see the driver and his car from a distance, they rarely get the opportunity to visit with the driver, or see his race car up close.

Before the racing action gets underway at every Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model race, fans are invited to socialize with the drivers and get an up close look at their race cars in the Chevy Fan Zone.  Just after the grandstand gates open, the Chevy Super Series drivers come to the fans in the grandstand area and bring their race cars with them.

With an up close look at the Chevy Super Series dirt late models, fans will discover that they are powered by the same Chevrolet production-based LS3 Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Corvette, and Chevrolet SS available at Chevrolet dealerships nationwide.  The only thing different is the oil pan.

Chevrolet Performance has named the racing version of the all-aluminum LS3 Engine the CT 525.  It’s economical price and durability has created new opportunities for racers to compete in super late model racing.  The new all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine has also brought side-by-side racing back to super late model racing without sacrificing speed.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series is America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” super late model series.  It is the only dirt late model series in the country that backed by a major automobile manufacturer and the only dirt racing series in the country where the race cars are powered by the same engine that comes in an automobile the fans can buy at Chevrolet dealerships worldwide.

The next thing fans will see in the Chevy Fan Zone is that the drivers and the fans get to know each other, as the drivers autograph “hero cards,” pose for photos, hand out coloring books to the kids.  The drivers are more than willing to show the fans their race cars and the production-based Chevrolet CT 525 Engine under the hood.

The Chevy Fan Zone gives the fans more enjoyment and more involvement watching the race, as they not only are familiar with the race car by number, but also with the driver sitting in the seat.

And then there is Mark Dowdy of Waterloo, AL.  Dowdy, who is currently ninth in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point standings, seized an opportunity to return to super late model racing when most people thought it was impossible.

Six years ago, Dowdy was already an established super late model driver when he was riding his motorcycle to work one morning and was involved in an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.  Doctors told him his racing career was over, but Dowdy has other ideas about that.  Dowdy modified his race car to where he can drive it with hand controls.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series has given Dowdy an opportunity to not only showcase his talent, but more so, his courage and determination.  Dowdy is known as “The Mayor of the Chevy Fan Zone” because those fans that talk to him and get to know him are inspired and encouraged by his story and no quit attitude.

At the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series race this Saturday at 411 Motor Speedway, race fans will see an abundance of talent from a Hall of Fame driver, veteran super late model drivers, young drivers making names for themselves, and overnight sensations that just needed the opportunity the Chevy Super Series provides to step up on to the National stage of super late model racing.

National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN leads the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point standings and has two wins this season.  Johnson will be one of the favorites to win on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway.

Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL is just 30 points behind Johnson in the point standings, with Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA in third with one win this season.  Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA is fourth and still in title contention.

Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, 15-year-old Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN, and Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL have seized the opportunity to compete for the prestigious Chevy Super Series Rookie of the Year Award.

The winning car at the 6th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial 44 last Saturday night at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will be at 411 Motor Speedway this Saturday, as driver and crew chief will swap roles.

Mack McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN drove the car victory at The Taz, while his brother, Pierce McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN turned the wrenches.  For this Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway, Pierce McCarter will drive and Mack McCarter will crew chief.

Third-generation East Tennessee driver Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN will be at 411 Motor Speedway for his second-ever Chevy Super Series race.  Williams was impressive in his series debut last Saturday night at The Taz where he finished a strong third behind Mack McCarter and Johnson.

Also expected for the Chevy Super Series race at 411 Motor Speedway this Saturday night are Lavon Sparks of Phenix City, AL, Mark Dowdy of Waterloo, AL, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, David Brannon of Elora, TN, the 2013 Chevy Super Series National Championship Runner-Up Tim Busha of Boaz, AL, Brad Hall of Knoxville, TN, Brian Shockley of Thorn Hill, TN, Jeff Smith of Chatsworth, GA, and Matthew Summers of Winchester, TN.

Race fans are encouraged to seize the opportunity to see a new style of super late model racing and a new group of talent, as the future of American Super Late Model Racing comes to  411 Motor Speedway this Saturday night when the Chevrolet Super Late Model Series comes to Seymour, TN for a $3,000-to-win 50-lap race.  Seize the opportunity to be impressed!

On Saturday at 411 Motor Speedway, the pit area and grandstand gates open at 3 p.m. with Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 3:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.  The Chevy Fan Zone will be open from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:45 p.m. with hot laps beginning immediately after the Drivers Meeting.
