DUAYNE HOMMEL WILL VISIT THE CHEVY FAN ZONE THIS FRIDAY AT I-75 RACEWAY

SWEETWATER, TN – This season Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN has been running the Duayne Hommel Tribute Car with the #H2 Tough As Nails graphics that Hommel ran late in his career that saw him as a rising superstar on the national stage before a highway accident in 2003 left him with injuries that ended his racing career.

This Friday night in the Chevy Fan Zone at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., not only can you see Matt Henderson and the Duayne Hommel Tribute Car, but you can also see Duayne “Hollywood” Hommel himself of Newport, TN.

Fans across the Southeast have come to love the Duayne Hommel Tribute Car because of their love for Hommel himself. Hommel has been keeping up with the success Henderson has had with the #H2 car and how popular the car has been among the fans. Hommel is coming to I-75 Raceway this Friday night to thank the fans for remembering him.

The Chevy Fan Zone is the opening of what should be a great night of racing at I-75 Raceway, as they welcome America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” dirt late model series, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series for a $3,000-to-win 50-lap race. This will be the first nationally sanctioned super late model race ever held at I-75 Raceway.

The Chevy Super Series drivers will bring their race cars to the fans in the Grandstand area at I-75 Raceway in the Chevy Fan Zone from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. before the action gets underway on the race track. Fans can meet the drivers and get to know them and see their race cars up close. Drivers will have “hero cards” to autograph and their will also be coloring books for the kids. Chevy Super Series apparel will be available to purchase.

Chevy Super Series defending National Champion, current point leader and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN will head a star-studded list of drivers from six different states expected for an East Tennessee Double Racing Weekend that will also include a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.

Johnson holds a two-point lead over Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL in the battle for the $10,000 Chevy Super Series National Championship. Other top drivers expected include Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, Mario Gresham of Rome, GA, Tim Busha of Boaz, AL, Jake Knowles of Rome, GA, Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN, Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, Trevor Thompson of Dallas, GA and the best of the rest.

The Chevy Super Series regulars will be taking on a tough local contingent of drivers that include Henderson, Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN, Ryan King of Seymour, TN, Cory Hedgecock of Lenoir City, TN, John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN and many more local favorites that will be looking to make a name for themselves on the National Stage of dirt late model racing.
