CHEVY SUPER SERIES DRIVERS READY TO TAKE ON NEW SURFACE AT EAMS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” dirt late model series, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will head for the high-banks of East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL this Saturday night for a $3,000-to-win $300-to-start 50-lap race, Round 2 of the 2014 season.

                When the dirt late models powered by the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine take to East Alabama Motor Speedway this weekend, it will be on a new clay surface.  The first wheel will turn on the new clay this Friday night during an Open Practice Session from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

                Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point leader Dingus Griffin of Ohatchee, AL will be among the star-studded field for the East Alabama Motor Speedway race this Saturday night.  Griffin won the Chevy Super Series season opener last month at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in his first start with the series.

                National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN is second in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point standings, just four points behind Griffin.  Johnson finished third in the 2013 Chevy Super Series point standings, and finished second to Griffin at Talladega Short Track on March 22.

                Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA will arrive at East Alabama Motor Speedway third in the Chevy Super Series point standings after a third-place finish at Talladega Short Track in his first series race.  Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL is fourth in the point standings after a fourth-place finish in the season opener.

                Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL leads the Rookie of the Year points chase and is fifth overall in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings.  Adkins is competing against Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN, Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL and Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS for the 2014 Rookie of the Year honors.

                Other top Chevy Super Series regulars expected at East Alabama Motor Speedway this Saturday night include Tim Busha of Boaz, AL, Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA, Frank Wilson of Milton, FL, Carlton Freeman of Eastaboga, AL, David Brannon of Elora, TN, Jason Fitzgerald of Middleburg, FL, Steve Kirk of Munford, AL, Jake Teague of Oliver Springs, TN, Mark Dowdy of Waterloo, AL, Ted Lackey of Munford, AL, Tim Roszell of Anniston, AL, and Ronald Dunn of Corinth, MS.

                Busha will be looking to get his 2014 season back on track after a successful 2013 run.  Busha finished 17th in the season opener after being involved in a crash while battling for the lead.  Busha finished second in the points last season and had two wins.

                In addition to being a Chevy Super Series Rookie of the Year candidate, Edge is also a local East Alabama Motor Speedway favorite, who will be returning to a track where he has had past success.  Two other EAMS favorites now running with the Chevy Super Series in 2014 are Dana Eiland of Salem, AL and Lavon Sparks of Phenix City, AL.

On Saturday, the Pit Gate will open at 3 p.m., with Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. with Hot Laps to follow.
