Chatham, LA Facilty To Open Under New Management -

Monroe, LA - In what can only be described as a serious boost for Louisiana dirt track racing,  the recently idle Jones Motor Speedway will see life again this season under new management.  The facility, renamed as Underwood Speedway, will open in the spring under the watchful eye of new promoter Mark Underwood.

Underwood, a long time racer, is currently making repairs and improvements to the 1/4 mile race track and the grounds.  "I just felt like people around here needed a place to race and I'd like to try to give it to them" Underwood stated in a phone interview.

In the preliminary schedule set by the track, both the Louisiana Bayou Sprinters and Southern Crate Late Model Series have multiple scheduled dates, with talks still under way with the Southern Outlaw Sprinters and Gulf South Winged Mini Sprints.  All things in the Monroe area aren't winged, however, with plans being worked on for possible late model specials and some modified special events.

A weekly slate of sport mods, cruisers, b mods, street stocks and compacts will be on the card along with scheduled special events. Rules and payouts are posted on the track Facebook page, "Underwood Speedway" for you to review.  For more information, contact Mark at 318-953-0046. ( dryslick.net PR 2015 )
