FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Brandon Smith Races to $2,000 Win in CCSDS Competition at Diamond Park Nashville, Arkansas (07/27/13) – After losing Friday night’s event at Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas) to rain the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models rolled into Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas) on Saturday evening for a $2,000-to-win program. It would prove to be an eventful evening to say the least. Twenty-two Super Late Models were on hand for the race, and Brandon Smith locked into the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the feature via his heat race performance and was joined on the front row by Trey Beene on a track that had been punished byalmost three inches of rain the day prior. Smith snagged the lead as the race went green, and while he would enjoy fairly smooth sailing at the front of the pack throughout the event there would be chaos back in the field. Smith's lone challenge came on lap 10 when Gary Scott Christian shot to the lead. Christian maintained the top spot for two laps before hooking a rut, which caused his nose to fold under. Lap 12 found Smith taking advantage of Christian's bad luck to reclaim the lead. After a pair of cautions in the early stages of the event a lap 16 restart found Robert Baker and Ronnie Adams tangling as they battled for the 2nd position. Under the caution Baker would make contact with Adams’ car and was disqualified from the event. Adams rejoined the tail of the field to prepare for an impressive run through the field. 2011 CCSDS Champion, Brandon Smith went on to record his first series victory of the season with Ronny Adams rebounding from his early race issues to finish second with Kyle Beard, Jon Kirby, and Eric Turner rounding out the top five. The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger $100 bonus was claimed by Kenneth Jackson, who advanced from the 22nd starting spot to a 10th place finish, while Joseph Long was awarded the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after seeing a new engine expire in his #37 entry. Gary Christian started the night by winning GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Odie Green winning the NEA Super Gas Heat Race #2. Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #3 was topped by Brandon Smith. The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series will sanction their first-ever event at North Central Arkansas Speedway (Yelleville, Arkansas) on Friday, August 2nd with a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start program. On Saturday, August 3rd the second round of the Stallion Transportation Group Summer Series will be held paying $2,500-to-win/$400-to-start.
