Jeremy Payne Scores First-Career, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Win

Pocola, Oklahoma (09/12/15) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil went head-to-head with the MARS DIRTcar Series on Saturday evening, where Jeremy Payne raced to his first-career win with the series.

The event started on the most tumultuous of notes as front row starters B.J. Robinson and Tyler Erb tangled on the first lap, collecting a majority of the field. The melee ended the night for Robinson and Erb as Jeff Roth and Payton Looney moved to the front row.

The ensuing attempt to get the race underway found Roth bolting to the lead with Looney, Jeremy Payne, and Tommy Surrett in tow. Roth led the first two laps before Springfield, Missouri’s Payne shot to the lead on the third circuit.

By lap 10 Payne entered lapped traffic with Tony Jackson Jr., Roth, Jack Sullivan, and Kyle Beard rounding out the top five. Sullivan raced to 3rd a few laps later to set his sights on leader, Payne, and Jackson Jr.

The remainder of the 30-lap affair found Payne leading the way to claim his first win with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series. Tony Jackson Jr., Jack Sullivan, Kyle Beard, and Justin Asplin completed the top five finishers.

Tyler Erb won GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Jeff Roth winning Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2.  Jeremy Payne raced to victory in M&M Painting Heat Race #3, while Payton Looney won Quarter Master Heat Race #4.

The Boston’s Sports Bar and Restaurants B-Mains were topped by Brandon McCormick and Gavin Landers.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award went to Jack Sullivan, who advanced from the 14th starting spot to a 3rd place finish. B.J. Robinson was the recipient of the Wilwood Tough Break of the Race Award after the lap 1 tangle that ended his night.

CCSDS returns to action on Friday, September 18th at Outlaw Motor Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) with a $2,500-to-win/$400-to-start affair at the state-of-the-art facility. The CCSDS visited the track in June, where Tyler Erb surged to the victory. The CCSDS competitors will be joined by Outlaw Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, Grand Nationals, and Pure Stocks. Adult general admission tickets are just $15 for adults; $10 for seniors and military; $5 for ages 6-12 and children 5 and under will be admitted for free. All pit passes are $30. Pit gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing slated for an 8:00 p.m. start time. For more information on the event, please visit www.OutlawMotorSpeedway.net .

On Saturday night, September 12th the CCSDS will now join the MARS DIRTcar Series in a co-sanctioned event at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Missouri). The event will be a show-up point event for the tour.
