Kyle Beard Conquers COMP Cams Super Dirt Series at NEA Speedway

Harrisburg, Arkansas (09/07/13) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model competitors rolled into Northeast Arkansas Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) on Saturday night for the third round of the Stallion Transportation Group Summer Series, and it was point's leader Kyle Beard, who left with the $2,500 winner’s check.

A great night of racing found twenty-four competitors entering the program, and action began with Billy Moyer Jr. earning the New Vision Graphics Pole Award via his performance in heat race action, and he was joined on the front row by Beard.  While a pair of perennial favorites in the event brought the field to the green for the 35 lapper it would be 3rd starting Dane Dacus, who rode the low line to the lead on the first lap with Moyer Jr. and Beard in tow.

The first of two cautions in the event flew on lap 2, which grouped the field for a double file restart, and it would be Dacus again leading the way as Moyer Jr. and Beard began to work the middle and top grooves.  Meanwhile great racing reigned supreme through the pack for the next ten laps before the caution flag was displayed again on lap 13 for a multi-car incident involving Tommy Surrett, Robert Lovett, and TJ Hughes.

During the caution period the complexion of the event underwent a change as Moyer Jr. retired with an overheating engine that was induced by a rock through his radiator.  The ensuing restart found Dacus coming under fire from a hard-charging Beard on the high side.  Dacus held Beard at bay until lap  20, when the Trumann, Arkansas driver bolted to the lead.

Beard would go on to lead the remainder of the event for his second series triumph of the 2013 season!  Dacus came home second, while Clay Fisher overcame an excursion through the infield early in the race that pushed him as far back as the 11th position to rebound to a 3rd place finish.  Brandon Smith and Wendell Wallace rounded out the top five finishers.

Billy Moyer Jr. won GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Chandler Petty winning NEA Super Gas Heat Race #2.  Wendell Wallace raced to victory in Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #3, while Kyle Beard closed out heat race action with a win in Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

Jamie Elam raced to victory in the Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurant b-main.  Tommy Surrett and Joseph Long utilized series' provisionals to start the finale.

Joseph Long received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from the 20th starting spot to a 10th place finish, while Jon Kirby was the recipient of the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after mechanical issues sidelined him early in the feature.

Despite there still being two races remaining on the schedule for 2013 Beard clinched his first COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Championship with the victory.

The CCSDS will now turn its attention to I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) this Saturday, September 14th for the final round of the Stallion Transportation Group Summer Series, which will be headlined by a $2,500-to-win feature.  For more information please visit www.I-30Speedway.com.
