Kyle Beard Rockets to $3,000 CCSDS Victory at the Ridge

Paragould, Arkansas (09/05/14) – After being delayed a week by Mother Nature the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil returned to Crowley’s Ridge Raceway on Friday evening for a $3,000-to-win affair, and it was area driver, Kyle Beard, who defended his home turf by rocketing through the pack to claim the win.

Via his performance in preliminary action Greenbrier, Arkansas pilot, Jack Sullivan earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the feature and was flanked to the outside by Mississippi driver, Eric Cooley. The opening laps of the finale were plagued by cautions, and during one of them Cooley began leaking fluid and was forced to retire as his night came to an early end.

With Cooley pit side, Dane Dacus moved forward to join Sullivan on the front row, and as the race finally went green Dacus jumped to the lead. He paced the field for the first half of the 40 lap affair as great racing action waged throughout the field on the ¼ mile oval.

While Dacus held Sullivan at bay, current CCSDS point leader, Kyle Beard was progressively working his way through the field from the 14th starting spot. As the race approached its closing laps Beard joined Dacus and Sullivan in a three-way battle for the top spot. Lap 38 found Sullivan surging to the lead before Kyle Beard used the low line to snag the top spot to lead lap 39. As the leaders exited turn two on the white flag circuit the capacity crowd came to their feet as the lead trio went three wide. Beard won the drag race down the backstretch and took sole possession of the lead headed to the checkered flag.

Beard led the parade across the finish line to claim the $3,000 win, which allowed him to extend his point lead. Dacus, Sullivan, Tommy Surrett, and Chandler Petty completed the top five.

Jack Sullivan won GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Eric Cooley winning Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2. Dane Dacus raced to victory in ROCKHARD Powder Coating Heat Race #3, while Lynnsee Provence won Woodco Inc. Heat Race #4.

Rick Hearnsberger and Mark Nichols raced to victory in the Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurant twin b-mains.

Kyle Beard received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for rocketing through the pack from his fourteenth starting spot to claim the win, while Shannon Scott was the recipient of the Keith Craft Racing Engines Hard Luck Award after being collected in multiple incidents started by other cars.
