COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Huge Labor Day Weekend on Tap

Beebe, Arkansas (08/26/14) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil is eagerly anticipating a busy Labor Day weekend, which will see the tour contesting a pair of $3,000-to-win events in Arkansas and Missouri.

On Friday evening, August 29th the CCSDS will make history by sanctioning its first-ever event at the racy confines of Crowley's Ridge Raceway (Paragould, Arkansas).

"It's always exciting to go to new tracks, but to go to Crowley's Ridge Raceway for the first time is especially a big moment for us," said CCSDS CEO, Chris Ellis. "The facility might be small, but it puts on exceptional racing, and has an amazing fan base. This is definitely a must-see event."

Saturday, August 30th will find the tour returning to the 3/8 mile oval Poplar Bluff Speedway (Poplar Bluff, Missouri) for the first time since 2007.

"Poplar Bluff Speedway is one of the top track's in our region, and it's really great to see it open again," commented Ellis. "We are honored to be heading back there for the first time since our inaugural season in 2007."

Defending series champion, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas continues to lead the standings with a 38 point advantage over Tommy Surrett. Clay Fisher, Brandon Smith, Rick Hearnsberger, Shannon Scott, David Payne, Kody Mea, Lynn Beach, and Jack Sullivan round out the top ten in the current standings.

The Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year battle continues to be ultra tight with Shannon Scott and Rick Hearnsberger deadlocked atop the point battle with Kody Mea and David Payne in pursuit.

The holiday action weekend opens on Friday evening at Crowley's Ridge Raceway (Paragould, Arkansas) with a $3,000-to-win/ $300-to-start program that will include heat races, b-mains, and the 40 lap finale. Also on the evening's card will be the Midsouth Sprint Car Association (MSCA) Winged 305 Sprint Cars and Modifieds. Racing action is slated to begin at 7:30pm. On Saturday evening the action shifts to Poplar Bluff Speedway (Poplar Bluff, Missouri) with another $3,000-to-win/ $300-to-start event. This is the first CCSDS event at the facility since 2007, which was won by Billy James. Heat races, b-mains, and the 40 lap finale will headline the CCSDS schedule of events. A $150 bonus has been posted for the highest finishing 602 or 604 Crate Engine entry. Other divisions in action include Modified, Super Street, E-Mod, Mini Stock, and Bone Stock.
