Jon Mitchell Prowls to COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Win at Diamond Park

Nashville, Arkansas (08/01/14) – Known as “The Cat Man” Jon Mitchell prowled on the competition all night long at Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas) in the $2,000-to-win, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil event at the clay oval.

Mitchell started his night by charging from the third starting spot in his heat race to score the win in his heat race.  Along the way he accumulated enough points to earn the New Vision Graphics Pole Award for the 30 lap feature in his Team 5 Enterprise #5 Mastersbilt Super Late Model.

Brandon Smith joined Mitchell on the front row for the finale, and it was 2012 series champion, Jon Mitchell, who won the drag race to turn one on the first lap to claim the lead.  It was an advantage that Mitchell would never relinquish as he wired the field for the duration of the event to claim the fifth CCSDS triumph of his career.  Jack Sullivan advanced to a runner-up finish, while series point leader, Kyle Beard, Smith, and Austin Rettig rounded out the top five finishers.

Jack Sullivan won GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Jon Mitchell winning Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2.  Brandon Smith raced to victory in ROCKHARD Powder Coating Heat Race #3.

Allen Murray topped the Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurant b-main.

Shannon Scott received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from the place 19th starting spot to an eleventh place finish, while Larry Potter was the recipient of the Keith Craft Racing Engines Hard Luck Award after battling handling issues all night.

Saturday, August 2nd will find the stars and cars of the tour invading I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) for a $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start affair.  Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, and Super Stocks will also be part of the show. Adult grandstand admission is $25 the day of the show or fans can save $5 by purchasing their tickets in advance at the Pit Road Bar & Grill, which is located in the track parking lot.  Ronny Adams conquered the ¼ mile oval in early April as the series made its only other appearance of 2014 at the facility.  Grandstand admission for ages 6-12 is $1 when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.  For more information on the event, please visit www.I-30Speedway.com .
