Camden CCSDS Cash Bagged by Dane Dacus

Camden, Tennessee (07/25/15) – Dane Dacus capitalized on Hunter Rasdon’s late-race, bad luck to score the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil victory on Saturday evening at Camden Speedway.

As the tour made its only appearance of 2015 at the facility Jack Sullivan and Dane Dacus earned the front row for the 40 lap affair. With the green flag flying, Sullivan bolted from the New Vision Graphics Pole to the lead with Rasdon in tight pursuit. Kyle Beard, Ashley Newman, and Todd Hall lurked just behind the top two.

The next few laps found great battles raging through the field, and on lap 8 Rasdon shot to the lead as Sullivan fell to 2nd. By lap 10 the leaders were already in lapped traffic with Rasdon extending his advantage considerably.

The first caution flag flew on lap 14 as top five runner, Shannon Scott stopped after contact with an infield tire. On the ensuing restart Kyle Beard moved past Sullivan into 2nd as he set his sights on the leader, Rasdon. While those two battled for the lead, the driver on the move was 9th starting Dane Dacus, who was up to 3rd by lap 25.

Dacus moved past Beard into 2nd on lap 33. Four laps later disaster struck for Rasdon, when mechanical woes caused him to slow to draw the caution. He retired pit side as Dacus inherited the lead. The Lakeland, Tennessee racer went on to lead the final three laps for his fourth career series win. Jack Sullivan, Kyle Beard, Gavin Landers, and Todd Hall completed the top five finishers at the 3/8 mile oval.
Jack Sullivan won GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Kyle Beard winning Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2. Hunter Rasdon raced to victory in ROCKHARD Powder Coating Heat Race #3.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award went to David Payne for advancing five spots to a 10th place finish, while Robert Baker was the recipient of the Wilwood Tough Break of the Race Award after an engine failure in his heat race, prematurely ended his night.

Next on tap for the CCSDS will be a doubleheader in Arkansas on July 31st and August 1st. On Friday, July 31st a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start event will be held at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway (Paragould, Arkansas), while I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) will play host to the tour on Saturday, August 1st as a $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start program.
