Hunter Rasdon Gobbles the Gumbo in CCSDS Go at Greenville

Greenville, Mississippi (07/01/16) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil kicked off a triple header weekend in the state of Mississippi with a $2,000-to-win affair at Greenville Speedway on Friday night. When the gumbo finally stopped flying, race fans had been treated with another phenomenal feature at the ¼-mile oval, and Hunter Rasdon had claimed his third series win of the year.

Brian Rickman earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Award for the 35-lap finale and was joined on the front row by Clay Fisher. It was Fisher, who grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag with Brian Rickman, Rick Rickman, Kyle Beard, and Hunter Rasdon in tow.

By lap 6 the leaders were in lapped traffic as the field raced top to bottom on the gumbo surface. While Fisher maintained the lead, the Rickman brothers began to duke it out for the 2nd position.

Fisher found his night come to a quick and disappointing end on the 12th circuit when he hooked the turn-2 wall, which caused him to spin. He retired pitside for the remainder of the evening.

Rick Rickman inherited the lead, but wouldn’t yet get a chance to lead a lap as 3rd-running, Hunter Rasdon used the cushion to catapult to the lead on the restart. Two laps later, Rick Rickman took the lead with Rasdon slipping as far back as 3rd over the next few laps as Brian Rickman again joined the fray.

A couple of mid-race cautions bunched the field, and it appeared that would be the only thing that could slow Rick Rickman down. However, following a lap-23 caution Rasdon came back to life and catapulted into the lead on lap 26. Rickman battled back to lead lap 27 before Rasdon took over for good on lap 30.

In the closing laps Jack Sullivan charged from 4th to finish 2nd behind the race winner, Rasdon. Rick Rickman, Brian Rickman, and Kyle Beard rounded out the Top 5 finishers.

“I’m exhausted right now, and it’s even hard to talk – that was a really demanding track tonight,” said Hunter Rasdon in victory lane. “Rick (Rickman) really made me drive the wheels off this thing to get the win. Me and Kyle (Beard) and Jack (Sullivan) are in a real tight points battle, so nights like this are really important if we are going to win the championship.”

He concluded by saying, “I want to thank everybody that helps me on this race car, and I hope the fans enjoyed the show here tonight.”

Black Diamond Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Brian Rickman with Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2 being claimed by Clay Fisher. M&M Paint & Construction Heat Race #3 was won by Rick Rickman.

Clay Fisher received the Henryetta Ford Hard Luck Award after seeing his time in the lead come to an end after lap-11 contact with the wall. Austin Theiss was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from 19th to finish 10th.
