COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Arkansas Doubleheader this Weekend

Beebe, Arkansas (04/08/14) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil will begin their regular point season this weekend, April 11th-12th, with a pair of events in its home state of Arkansas.

Last weekend the tour competed for the first time ever in a show-up point event with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday evening before seeing Sunday's scheduled event at Outlaw Motor Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) washed away by Mother Nature.

While last weekend's event awarded equal show-up points to all CCSDS racers, a bonus program was in place that awarded point incentives to any driver that raced his way into the feature.  Defending champion, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas qualified for the main event against a field of 50 entries and recorded a fifteenth place finish, and as a result received an additional ten points for his efforts.
As a result Beard will lead series competitors into battle this weekend in a pair of $2,000-to-win events.  Other series drivers expected include Chandler Petty, Clay Fisher, Tommy Surrett, Lynn Beach, Brandon Smith, Joseph Long, Keith Craft, Ashley Newman, Justin Asplin and more.

A talented field of new competitors are also setting their sights on the 2014 Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year competition for the tour including Kody Mea, Rick Hearnsberger, Gavin Landers, David Payne, and Jake Davis.

On Friday, April 11th the weekend opens as the tour will make their only appearance of the season at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) with a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start event at the 3/8 mile oval.  Jack Sullivan won in the series' lone visit to the facility in 2013.  IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and Bad Boy Super Stars will all be a part of the program.  For more information on the event please visit www.BatesvilleMotorSpeedway.net .

Northeast Arkansas Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) will play host to the CCSDS competitors on Saturday evening with a $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start event.  In five events at the 1/4 mile oval in 2013 Tony Jackson Jr. won twice with Jon Mitchell, Billy Moyer Jr., and Kyle Beard all finding victory lane on separate occasions.  This Saturday's event will mark the first of four appearances at the facility in 2014 for the series.  Modifieds, Street Stocks, E-Mods, and Factory Stocks will also be a part of the program.  Ticket prices for this event will be $20 for adults, $10 for students (6-18 years-of-age), and FREE for children 5 and under.  Pit passes will be $30 for adults, $15 for children (6-12 years-of-age), and FREE for children 5 and under.  Gates open at 3 p.m with the driver's meeting at 6:30pm with hot laps at 7:00 p.m. and racing action at 7:30 p.m.  For more information please visit www.NEASpeedway.com .
