Defending CCSDS Champ, Sullivan Tops Action I-30 Speedway

Little Rock, Arkansas (04/02/16) – Defending COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil champion, Jack Sullivan, returned to winning form on Saturday evening with a $2,000 triumph at I-30 Speedway.

After winning his heat race from the final, starting spot, Garrett Alberson earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Award for the 40-lap feature. The Las Cruces, New Mexico driver grabbed the lead and paced the opening laps of the finale over Timothy Culp, Jack Sullivan, Kyle Cummings, and Austin Rettig.

By lap 8 the leaders were already in lapped traffic as drivers searched high and low around the ¼-mile oval.

While Alberson cruised at the front of the field, Sullivan and Alberson staged a great battle for the runner-up spot as they swapped the position. multiple times. Lap 19 found Sullivan retaking the 2nd spot, and he set his sights on the leader Garrett Alberson as the leader diligently worked against lapped traffic.

On lap 24, Sullivan used lapped traffic to his advantage to take the lead exiting turn 2.

Over the remainder of the caution-free event Alberson pressured Sullivan for the top spot but came up a half-car length short at the checkered flag. For Sullivan it was the 14th CCSDS victory of his career.

“Whoo, I’m glad that one was over,” said a tired Sullivan in victory lane. “This place was elbows up tonight. I definitely didn’t want to see a caution, but on the same note it might’ve been good to get one to catch our breath.”

He concluded by saying, “They say the first win of the year is the toughest so I’m glad to get this one out of the way.”

Alberson finished 2nd with Austin Rettig, Timothy Culp, and Kyle Beard rounding out the top five finishers.
