Kyle Beard and Mother Nature Split CCSDS Wins at Timberline Speedway
Corley, Texas (08/10/13) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models set out to sanction a pair of events at Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas), and it would be current point leader, Kyle Beard claiming the win in the $2,000-to-win opener, while Mother Nature swept the program on Saturday evening.
On Friday night Patrik Daniel accumulated the most points in heat race action to earn the New Vision Graphics Pole Award for the feature with Kyle Beard starting alongside. As the race went green Beard bolted to the top spot with Daniel, Jon Mitchell, Ronny Adams, and Keith Craft in tow.
Despite a trio of cautions that bunched the field Beard would go on to hold Daniel at bay throughout the race to score his first series’ victory of the 2013 campaign. Daniel, Mitchell, Adams, and Craft rounded out the top five finishers.
The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award was claimed by Gary Christian, while Ashley Newman was awarded the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after seeing his top ten run come to an early end, when he was collected in a melee with the lapped car of James Williams.
Patrik Daniel scored the win in GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 with Jon Mitchell winning the NEA Super Gas Heat Race #2. Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #3 was claimed by Kyle Beard.
On Saturday evening the tour was slated to contest another $2,000-to-win event at the oval, but late evening rain forced the cancellation of the event.
The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series will take the rest of the month of August off before returning to action on Saturday, September 7th with a $2,500-to-win program at Northeast Arkansas Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) that will be held as part of the Stallion Transportation Group Summer Series.
