Eddie Carrier Jr. Registers Top Five at Florence; Lucas Southern Swing Next

Salt Rock, West Virginia (04/02/13) – Eddie Carrier Jr. took his #28 Grover Motorsports/Rocket/Grover Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in a single event over the weekend as he took part in the Spring 50 at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) and came away with his first top five finish of the season.

Twenty-seven super Late Models took to the 1/2 mile oval, and via preliminary action Eddie earned the second starting spot for the 50 lap, $5,000-to-win finale. He was joined on the front row by Greg Johnson, and as the race went green Johnson jumped to the lead with Carrier Jr. in tow. Eddie ran in second during the opening laps before a soft tire choice caused him to slip backwards a few spots. He went on to finish in the fourth spot behind race winner, Scott James, Mike Marlar, and Greg Johnson.

"I sure hate we went too soft on tires, but as much as we've struggled to start the year a fourth place finish feels about like a win," noted Carrier Jr. "Hopefully we are finally getting all of the bugs worked out, and we can get back to winning races."

Full results from the event are available at www.FlorenceSpeedway.com.

This weekend Carrier Jr. will travel to the South for a pair of $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events. The action opens on Friday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) before moving to Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday night. Eddie is currently tenth in the latest LOLMDS standings. For more information on the events, please visit www.LucasDirt.com .

Austin Hubbard Has Strong Weekend at La Salle; Ready for Lucas Action

Seaford, Delaware (04/02/13) - With the scheduled National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) Super Late Model Series events at Paducah International Raceway (Paducah, Kentucky) and I-55 Raceway (Pevely, Missouri) facing an unfavorable forecast, the team traveled to La Salle Speedway (La Salle, Illinois) over the weekend for the Thaw Brawl.

With a talented field of forty-six Super Late Models in the pit area on Friday night for the $2,000-to-win event Hubbard blazed to his heat race win to lock into the second starting spot for the main event. In the feature Austin grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag as he went wheel-to-wheel with Dennis Erb Jr. during the opening laps before Erb Jr. took control of the top spot. Hubbard went on to record a second place finish at the checkered flag. Jimmy Mars, Frank Heckanast Jr., and Jason Feger rounded out the top five at the checkered flag.

On Saturday night the first place money increased to $10,000-to-win as forty entries took to the track in the event, which was sanctioned by the Sunoco American Late Model Series. Austin again started his night with a heat race win to lock into the fourth starting spot for the main event. He battled in the top five for the duration of the event, including a stint in the second position early in the event, before crossing the finish line in the fifth spot behind race winner, Brian Birkhofer, Chris Simpson, Brandon Sheppard, and Billy Drake.

"It was a great weekend for our team," remarks Hubbard. "That caution on Friday night, when we had just taken the lead back was a killer, but to be contending for wins again feels great, and I'm excited to jump back into action with the Lucas tour. I can't thank all of my sponsors, crew, and fans enough for their awesome sport."

Full results from both events are available at www.LaSalleSpeedway.com .

This weekend Hubbard Motorsports will take part in a double shot of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) action in the South. The swing opens on Friday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) with a $10,000-to-win event before moving to Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday evening for another $10,000-to-win affair. Spring, Texas (04/02/13) – Chris Brown piloted his #21 Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance/Hughes/Roush Yates Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to a second place finish in the coveted King of America III Modified Nationals over the weekend.

After being delayed a week by Mother Nature the King of America III Modified Nationals was held over the weekend at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) as ninety-seven of the best Open Wheel Modified pilots in the country entered the $10,000-to-win event, which was sanctioned by the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

In the feature on Saturday evening he progressively began working his way forward as the event went green. By lap 30 he was into the top five as he continued his march forward. A spirited battle waged for positions two through six during the race's mid-stages, but Brown would work his way past Jeremy Payne into the second spot by lap 80 as he set his sights on the leader, Ryan Gustin. Over the final twenty laps Brown applied heavy pressure to the leader, and even pulled alongside him on a few occasions, but fell just short of making the pass as he settled for a second place finish. He was awarded a $6,000 check for his efforts, which marked his richest USMTS payday of his career.

Full results from all three days are available at www.USMTS.com .

SALDANA AND 71M TEAM RIDING THE COAT TAILS OF QUICK TIME
AND TRACK RECORD AS OUTLAWS COMPETITION CONTINUES IN CALIFORNIA

ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 1, 2013) – Joey Saldana and the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M team are riding the momentum of quick time and a track record as they prepare to battle the intense World of Outlaws Sprint Car competition on the 3/8-mile Antioch Speedway April 5.

The team set a track record and quick time at the previous race March 29 on the third-mile Merced (Calif.) Speedway.

For the up-coming Antioch event, fan excitement is high in anticipation of another electrifying race that seems to be developing into tradition. Last year on the last turn on the final lap there was a three-way squeeze play accented by a slide job that propelled winner Tim Kaeding to victory over reigning Outlaws champion Donny Schatz.  In 2011 the competition was equally as exciting.

“There has been a lot of spectacular competition this year and we have every reason to  believe that our race enthusiasts will be treated to another evening of exceptional hammer down racing,” said Saldana, currently riding in third place in World of Outlaws point standings.

“This is a tight little track so qualifying up front is key. We’re hoping to be right in the thick of it as we drive to the checkered flag.”

On Saturday evening, the Outlaws will take to the nostalgic Calistoga Speedway.  The track has been revamped this year adding clay and banking.  Located in the Napa County Fairgrounds, the Calistoga track has been in operation for 75 years and the race April 6 will be the 25th for the World of Outlaws.

“We are really looking forward to getting on the new course during hot laps,” said Saldana.  “In the past, we’ve found that passing has been difficult so hopefully the new configuration will give us more passing room and side-by-side racing.

“We are bringing our A Game,” continued Saldana.  “We’re energized and ready to mix it up.”

So far this season, the 71M team’s performance record includes one quick time, one track record, two top five and six top 10 finishes, an admirable testimony to a team that was born and raised in a 45-day time period before the season-opener.

Saldana has 83 career victories, placing him seventh on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car win list.
