Eddie Carrier Jr. Bags $10k Payday at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex

Salt Rock, West Virginia (09/18/13) - Eddie Carrier Jr. and Grover Motorsports went into battle over the weekend in the American Heritage Classic at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex (Peebles, Ohio) with their #28 Engines Inc/Rocket/Grover Racing Engine Super Late Model, and by the time the final checkered flag of the weekend dropped, Eddie had claimed his fourth win of the 2013 season.

The two-day extravaganza at the 3/8 mile oval began on Friday night with time trials and heat race action for the 22 car field that was on hand. Eddie qualified 2nd fastest in his group before racing to a 2nd place finish in his heat race.

Saturday night's program was headlined by twin, $10,000-to-win features, and in the 2nd feature Carrier Jr. started 5th on the grid. He raced in the top five throughout the event before racing to a 5th place finish behind race winner, Jackie Boggs, RJ Conley, Greg Johnson, and Tim Dohm.

For the second feature the line-up was determined by inverting the cars, which were running at the end of the first feature. As a result Eddie started 8th on the grid for the second, 50 lap feature, and as the race went green he began working his way forward before taking the lead from Duane Chamberlain just past the halfway point. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the $10,000 victory, which came over Chamberlain, Jared Miley, Greg Johnson, and Ben Adkins.

“The first feature we weren’t really that good, but that gave us quite a bit of time to work on the car,” Carrier said. “We made quite a bit of changes and went a little harder on tires. I didn’t think we were gonna get up through there. We kept on having those cautions and we really needed some green-flag runs. Seemed like the bottom started working a lot better in that second one.”

Carrier had the choice of a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle or $10,000 after his victory. He chose the money.

“It takes money to run this operation,” said Carrier, who was the first driver to take the money of the motorcycle in the history of the event. “I know everybody likes to ride bikes, but the way the economy is, it seems like nobody has the kind of play money they used to have. Money’s tight and we’ve got eight bikes right now we’re trying to sell.”

This weekend, September 20th-21st, the team will enter a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events in Kentucky and Indiana. On Friday evening the 27th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial will post a $10,000 winner's check at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky), while Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) will play host to the $15,000-to-win, 34th Annual Jackson 100 on Saturday evening. OUTLAWS HIT THE ‘BIG E’ ON FRIDAY AND THEN FACE THE POSSE SATURDAY

ROSSBURG, Ohio (Sept. 16, 2013) – Joey Saldana’s experience at the famed Eldora Speedway reads a bit like a Charles Dickens novel:  “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

It was Saldana’s King’s Royal victory here in 2002 that was one the most significant victories of his career because it was the win that made him feel like he would be a legitimate contender in World of Outlaws racing.  Saldana scored a second King’s Royal victory in 2006.

On the other hand, he sustained injuries at the ‘Big E’ that caused him to be air lifted out of the facility twice.  Once in September 2010 when he sustained a concussion and again when a crash in the 2012 King’s Royal resulted in a broken arm and injured ribs that contributed to a partially collapsed lung.

This Friday, Sept. 20, when the Brownsburg Bullet hits the half-mile oval, he will be looking to make his 155th start at Eldora and add to the 22 victories he has at this track.

The World of Outlaws series is “playing the back nine”, with eight races left to season’s end.

The Motter Equipment Beltline Body Shop Fatheadz Eyewear 71M team has been making great strides since their switch to a GF1 chassis and Pro Shocks prior to the Ironman at Pevely, Mo., August 3. The chassis, powered by quick, fast, reliable engines from Speedway Engine Development has contributed to a surge in the team’s performance.  They scored a victory at Chico, Calif., and have notched10 top-5 finishes and 16 top-10 finishes in the past 18 events.

They have also advanced two spots, from sixth to fourth, in Outlaws point standings.

The teams will load up after the Friday show in Eldora and head to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. for a Saturday event.  Saldana has had success at Lernerville, having won here in 2010.

Lernerville has set the scene for many epic battles between the Outlaws and the Pennsylvania Posse.  Saturday the fight will continue to decide Lernerville’s ‘Top Gun.’
Saldana finished fifth here in July.

“Racing the Outlaws is difficult enough,” said Saldana.  “And then you throw the Posse in with them and from the driver’s seat it’s one of the toughest nights of racing you’ll find.”

“We’re up to the challenge, though.  One thing is for sure, it will be a great show for the fans.”
