Chris Brown Bags Career Win in Armadillo Nationals; Cotton Pickin' Next

Spring, Texas (09/30/14) –Chris Brown has won some big races during his career, but on Saturday evening he won the biggest to date in his #21 Brown Motorsports/LG21 Open Wheel Modified with a $10,000 triumph in the 2nd Annual Armadillo Nationals!

Preliminary action opened on Thursday evening at the 3/8 mile oval with a program that saw forty-five entries register for battle. Chris won his heat race from the pole position, which transferred him to the A-Main qualifier in the seventh starting spot. During the course of the qualifier Brown battled amongst the top ten before ultimately crossing the finish line in seventh.

Friday night's preliminary event once again saw Chris win his heat race from the pole position, locking him into the fifth starting spot for the 25 lap, preliminary feature. In the feature, Brown mounted a great charge to claim the win over Steve Whiteaker, Jon Mitchell, Justin Ingalls and Bobby Malchus.

Via his performance in preliminary action Brown earned the second starting spot for the 50 lap, $10,000-to-win finale alongside pole sitter, Rodney Wing. Throughout the course of the 50 lapper, Chris battled with fourth-starting Steven Whiteaker Jr. for the top spot. When the checkered flag waved it was Brown who took home the $10,000 payday over Whiteaker, Wing, Chris Henigan and Johnny Scott.

Shane Clanton Tops SAS at EAMS; Rome and Dixie Next

Zebulon, Georgia (09/30/14) - After a much needed week away from the track, Shane Clanton made a triumphant return to competition over the weekend in his #25 Weldbank Energy/Capital Race Car/Clements Race Engine Super Late Model by winning the opener of the annual Alabama State Championships at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama).

Thirty-nine competitors registered for Saturday's opening round, which was sanctioned by the Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series. Clanton earned the third starting spot in the $4,000-to-win feature via qualifications. He trailed race-long leader, Ray Cook until contact with a lapped car gave Shane the opportunity he needed to seize the top spot. With Cook out of contention, Clanton went unchallenged for the remainder of the event for his third victory of the season, which came over Mack McCarter, Clint Smith, Riley Hickman and Tom Maddox.

The finale for the Alabama State Championships was contested on Sunday afternoon, which was again sanctioned by the SAS Racing Series and boasted a $4,000 winner's check. Shane posted the fastest lap in his respective group during time trials before going on to register a fourth place finish in the main event behind race winner, Randy Weaver, Riley Hickman and Chris Madden. Chris Wilson completed the top five finishers.

"It was another great weekend for the team. We have made some big strides over the past month or so," said Clanton. "Marshall (Green) and everyone at Capital has really been busting their tails, and it's showing on the track. I have to thank Ron (Davies) and all of my sponsors for their great support."

Austin Hubbard the Big Kahuna at Roaring Knob

Seaford, Delaware (09/3014) - Austin Hubbard was back in victory lane over the weekend in his #11 Trinity Logistics/Mastersbilt by Huey/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model with a $5,000 triumph in the finale for the annual Big Kahuna at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.

A $2,500-to-win program was contested on Friday night, as thirty-two entries filled the pit area. Austin finished fourth in his heat race to lock into the feature event, and raced his way to a solid sixth place finish behind race winner, Keith Barbara, Davey Johnson, Kyle Hardy, Kenny Pettyjohn and Tim Senic.

On Saturday evening the winner's check increased to $5,000 for the event, which was sanctioned by the Three State Flyers Series. Thirty-three Super Late Models registered for battle, and a second place finish in his heat race earned Hubbard a starting spot in the finale. In the main event, Austin drove his entry to the front of the pack en route to his fourth triumph of the 2014 season over Kenny Pettyjohn, Keith Barbara, Jason Covert and Tim Senic.

Tony Jackson Jr. Clinches MARS Title with Salina Triumph

Lebanon, Missouri (09/30/14) – It was a memorable weekend for Tony Jackson Jr. as the team not only returned to victory lane for the sixth time this season but also locked up their second straight Mid America Racing Series (MARS) Championship.

A strong field of thirty-six MARS Super Late Models entered the event at the Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) on Saturday evening, and Tony used a heat race win to lock into the main event in his RLB Financial #56 Rocket/Cornett Racing Engine entry. In the feature, Jackson Jr. took control from Brantlee Gotschall mid-race and led the remainder of the 40 lapper for his second MARS triumph of the 2014 season. Gotschall finished second followed by Jesse Stovall, Tommy Weder Jr. and Jason Hughes. With the win Tony clinched the 2014 MARS title over Jesse Stovall.

"Wow, what a way to wrap up the MARS season," said Jackson Jr. "This year has definitely been a challenging one for our team, but nobody gave up and we all just kept digging. That makes this title that much sweeter. Now hopefully we can notch a few more wins before the season winds down.

Kyle Beard Clinches Second Straight CCSDS Title

Trumann, Arkansas (09/30/14) –  Kyle Beard put the wraps on the 2014 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil championship on Saturday night by entering the final series event of the season at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) in his Upton Motorsports #86 Gary Beard Trucking/Bob Pierce/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model

A field of thirty-one entries took part in the $2,500-to-win event, and after advancing from seventh to finish fourth in his heat race Kyle locked into the eleventh starting spot for the 40 lap feature. Beard progressively worked his way forward early in the race before having to retire from the event with vibration issues while running in the top five with vibrations on his #86 entry. He was credited with a fourteenth place finish.
Despite a disappointing early end to the feature event, Beard claimed his second straight CCSDS title over Tommy Surrett and Clay Fisher.

"Well, it definitely wasn't the way we wanted the night to go as far as the mechanical issues, but at least we were able to claim the title," laughed Beard. "It was another great year on the tour, and I really enjoyed traveling up and down the road with a lot of great competitors. A special thanks goes out to my family, my crew, my sponsors, and my fans. This second championship is dedicated to them all."
