Chris Brown Goes Two-For-Three in USMTS Royal Purple Competition

Spring, Texas (02/18/14) – Chris Brown enjoyed a stellar start to his 2014 campaign over the weekend in his #21 Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance/LG21/Durham Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified as he raced to a pair of feature wins at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas).

Chris Brown kicked off the 5th Annual USMTS Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas on Thursday night. Chris won his qualifying heat race which locked him into a sixth place starting spot for the 30 lap feature. Brown worked his way up to the third spot by lap ten, and made the pass on Fito Gallardo for the second spot just three laps later as he began to catch the leader. In the closing laps Chris caught race leader, Stormy Scott, as the two waged a side-by-side battle for the top spot. When the white flag flew Brown edged in front and went on to lead the final lap to narrowly score the victory. At the finish line it would be Brown scoring the victory followed by Stormy Scott in second, Johnny Scott, Rodney Sanders, and Jason Krohn rounding out the top five.

Chris continued his winning ways on Friday evening. Much like the previous night, Brown had to claw his way to the front during the 40 lap feature event that boasted a $3,000 top prize. He rolled off from the tenth starting position and quickly began his charge to the front when the field took the green. Chris began to apply pressure to early race leader Dereck Ramirez as the field saw they halfway signal. The caution flag came out on lap 22 for a multi-car tangle, giving Brown the opportunity he needed to make the pass for the lead just two circuits later. Chris led the remaining 16 laps for his ninth career USMTS victory. Rodney Sanders, Dereck Ramirez, Jeremy Payne and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the top five finishers.

The weekend drew to close with the $4,000-to-win finale on Saturday night. Chris failed to transfer into the feature via heat race action, but was able to secure a 15th place starting spot in the finale after he finished second in the b-main. During the course of the 50 lap feature, Brown drove by six other competitors in route to a ninth place finish.

“It was just an amazing start to the year for us,” commented Brown. “We are thrilled about the possibilities with these new cars, and our performances over the weekend show just how strong these new hot rods truly are. Special thanks goes to all of my great sponsors and supporters!”

Tyler Reddick Fifth at Daytona; Receives NCWTS Clearance

Corning, California (02/18/14) – Tyler Reddick obtained great news on Monday morning, when he received notification from NASCAR that he had officially received his super speedway certification, which will allow him to enter this week's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Daytona International Speedway (Daytona, Florida). The clearance comes on the heels of Reddick advancing twenty-seven positions to a 5th place finish in last Saturday's ARCA Series presented by Menards event at the 2.5 mile oval.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 event begins with practice on Wednesday and Thursday, February 19th-20th. Qualifying is slated in the afternoon on Friday, February 21st with the race going green that night at 7:30 p.m. est. Tyler will look to record a strong outing in his debut in the #19 BKR/Reese Tow Power/Cooper Standard/ Draw-Tite/Broken Bow Records/Roush Yates Racing Engine/Ford F-150. For more information about the event, please visit www.DaytonaInternationalSpeedway.com .

Tyler Reddick entered the Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real on Saturday at Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, Florida) with the ARCA Series presented by Menards. Mechanical issues in qualifying left Reddick starting 32nd on the grid for the 80 lap event in his #22 Broken Bow-Cunningham Motorsports Dodge at the 2.5 mile oval. While he might've been starting deep in the field he didn't let it dampen his spirits or determination.

Reddick would go on to mount a great charge in the event as he avoided multiple accidents around him to advance twenty-seven spots on his way to a 5th place finish behind race winner, Grant Enfinger, Frank Kimmel, Clay Campbell, and Tom Hessert.
