Boyd’s Speedway Readies for $3,500-to-win Cabin Fever 40 on Saturday January 23rd

RINGGOLD, GA (January 5, 2016)—The Annual Cabin Fever 40 for Super Late Models will open up a busy season for the Boyd’s Speedway located in Ringgold, Ga. on Saturday January 23rd.

The headlining Super Late Model event (40 laps) will pay $3,500-to-win and $350-to-start. The Super Late Model feature boasts more than a $17,000 purse. Along with the Super Late Models, the Crate Late Models will race 40 laps for $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start, the B-Hobby class will race for $300-to-win while the Topless Sportsman division will race for $500-to-win. The Road Warrior division will also be on the racing card racing for $200-to-win.

Fresh off a record-setting event at 411 Motor Speedway on January 1st, CT Promotions will sanction the event for the first time. The Super Late Model portion of the event will consist of Southern Nationals Series rules. The tire and engine rules will somewhat differ and are listed below.

Riley Hickman of Cleveland, Tenn. claimed the Southern Regional Racing Series-sanctioned $3,000 prize during the 2014 Cabin Fever 40 event at Boyd’s Speedway over Jeff Smith, Tom Maddox, Rick Hixson and Caleb Ashby. Hickman again won the annual event in 2015 besting a field of 48 cars over Donald McIntosh, Pierce McCarter, Cory Hedgecock and Jason Hiett.

In the Super Late Models, the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1600 and American Racer 56, on both rear tires. The front tires will be open compound. Open motors will be required to weigh 2350 lbs. minimum with SPEC and CT525 engines weighing 2300 lbs. minimum. There will be a pound per lap burnoff in the feature only. All Super Late Model entries will utilize eight (8) inch spoilers. There will be a $100 entry fee charged to the Super Late Model teams. The Super Late Models will race under the 2015 Southern Nationals Series rule book. Format for the Super Late Models will be Qualifying, Heat Races, B-Mains (if needed) and the 40-lap feature.

The Crate Late Models will race for $1,500-to-win and $150-to-start and the entry fee will be $50.00. The tire rule will be open front with Hoosier 1600/American Racer 56 on the rear tires. The format will be Qualifying, Heat Races, B-Mains (if needed) and 40-lap feature.

The Topless Sportsman will race for $500-to-win with 12 or more cars. They will race a Heat and 20-lap main. The B-Hobby division will race for $300-to-win with 12 or more cars. They will race a Heat and 15-lap main. The Road Warrior class will race for $200-to-win with 10 or more cars. They will race for a 15-lap Feature.

On Friday January 22, there will be an open practice session for all classes from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. The gates will open at 3:00 pm on practice day. Grandstand admission is free while pit passes will be $20.00 for adults and children 12 and under admitted for $10.00.

On Saturday January 23rd the pit gates will open at 10:00 am, the grandstand gates open at 11:00 am while the drivers meeting is set for 1:00 pm. Hot laps will roll out at 1:30 pm. All times are Eastern. Adult general admission on January 23rd will be $17.00 while children 12 and under are admitted for free. Adult pit passes will be $35.00 while children 12 and under are admitted for $15.00.

Transponder rentals will be required for all competitors that do not own their own. Rental is $20.00 per transponder and a $10.00 scoring fee applies if drivers own their own.
