Bergman Scores Two Top Fives During The Rushmore Rumble

Inside Line Promotions - RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 27, 2016) - Seth Bergman recorded a pair of heat race victories and two top fives during The Rushmore Rumble last weekend.

Bergman's two nights with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Black Hills Speedway nearly mirrored each other. The action began on Friday with Bergman winning a heat race from the pole position. That locked him into the feature redraw, where he pulled the highest number - eight - to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

Bergman battled toward a podium finish and was in the mix for one of the four lock-in positions into Saturday's main event before he ended fifth, which was his 15th top five of the season.

The team returned to the big track on Saturday for the finale, which Bergman once again kicked off by winning a heat race from the pole. This time Bergman missed a spot in the feature redraw by only one position. That lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

Bergman again maneuvered toward the podium before he settled for a fifth-place result, which was his seventh of the season with the ASCS National Tour.

The two performances helped Bergman advance to sixth place in the championship standings - only 36 points behind fourth place.

"It was a solid weekend for us," he said. "Of course we wanted to win, but we made the most of our heat races and we moved forward in each main event."

Bergman has now earned 16 top 10s in his last 18 races, including seven top fives.

He is scheduled to resume Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition this week with races on Thursday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., and Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon, S.D.

Bergman's most recent victory this season came at Badlands Motor Speedway on May 29.

Tankersley Sweeps ASCS Gulf South Doubleheader to Increase Points Lead

Inside Line Promotions - PAIGE, Texas (July 27, 2016) - Channin Tankersley tied a career high for victories in a single season after he swept the ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader last weekend.

That gives him four triumphs this season and 121-point lead in the championship standings with only five races remaining.

"I haven't hit five wins, so that was my goal going into the year," he said. "We're getting closer."

Last weekend's competition began on Friday at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, where Tankersley advanced from sixth to second place in a heat race. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 6 to start the main event on the outside of the third row.

"We started to go backwards at first," he said. "I lost a couple of spots and pulled the wing back. I started trying some things. The car was working really good. We could run the bottom or the top. That helped us catch the leader. We got to racing in traffic and got by him just after halfway."

Tankersley said he led the final 10 laps for the triumph.

"We've had a pretty good car the last three or four months wherever we go," he said. "Any time you can roll out there and have a car that will go anywhere on the track it's a good day at the office."

The momentum continued on Saturday at Cotton Bowl Speedway, where Tankersley won his heat race from the pole to lock into the feature redraw.

"Somehow I drew the No. 1," he said. "That doesn't happen very often with me. Scottie (McDonald) got by me on the start, but I passed him around the flag stand on the first lap. I'm pretty sure I led the whole race. I got out there and got comfortable and tried not to make any mistakes. Not many people can sweep a weekend in their career. To have two in a year is awesome."

Tankersley's win was his first career at Cotton Bowl Speedway.

He will return to action Aug. 19 at Heart O' Texas Speedway and Aug. 20 at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

Blaney Posts Podium at Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Before Top 10s at Kokomo

Inside Line Promotions - KOKOMO, Ind. (July 27, 2016) - Dale Blaney had a consistent week of competition in his Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports ride.

Blaney began last week's action on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. He qualified second quickest in his group, won a heat race and advanced from third to second place in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

"We were really good early in the night," he said. "We drew a good number, which helped. We had a good start in the heat race and the dash went good for us. I thought we were in good position to get something done. The track was going to be up our alley and kind of slick. For whatever reason we weren't very good. We struggled to make the corners. I felt like we gave away an opportunity to win. It was probably one of the most disappointing features I've been a part of this year."

Blaney dropped to sixth place before rebounding to post a third-place result.

He then ventured to Kokomo Speedway for an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader that began on Friday. Blaney timed in eighth quickest during qualifying before he won a heat race and placed seventh in the dash.

"The first night we were ok in the heat race, but we were terrible in the dash," he said. "Then in the feature we just never got going anywhere. It was a long 35 laps of trying not to get passed."

Blaney held on for a ninth-place result, which was his 35th top 10 of the season.

The weekend concluded on Saturday, when Blaney finished fourth in the first heat race and second in the second heat race to rank seventh in overall points. That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

"I felt like we got a little better," he said. "We made some changes to the car. I felt like I was as good as some guys in front of me. I was in the lane everyone else was at and I couldn't create myself another lane. I was trying to run the top in turns three and four for a while and couldn't gain anything."

Blaney ended with an eighth-place finish.

He will return to All Star competition this weekend with races on Friday at Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pa.; Saturday at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa.; and Sunday at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pa.

Hanks Seeking Top 10 at Knoxville Raceway This Saturday

Inside Line Promotions - BURLISON, Tenn. (July 27, 2016) - Brandon Hanks will use this Saturday to get one final test in at Knoxville Raceway before the 360 Knoxville Nationals the following weekend.

"We wanted more laps before we went to the Nationals," he said. "We wanted to go this past weekend, but some things at work got in the way so we missed out. Any laps are good laps at Knoxville because it's so different from anywhere we go. It takes a certain art to race that place."

Hanks has competed at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, once this season. He tackled the season opener on April 16 and was battling for a top 10 when an incident forced him into the pits early.

"This guy had been running the bottom the whole time," he said. "I was catching him and was about to pass him when he went high right in front of me. I had to get out of the throttle to keep from running into him. My car got tight and I hit the wall."

Hanks said his goal for this weekend is to record a top-10 finish.

"I just need some laps there," he said. "I think we can earn a top 10 and it'd be nice to build some momentum heading into the 360 Knoxville Nationals."

Hagar Extends Podium Streak to 16 Races Before it's Stopped at Double X

Inside Line Promotions - CALIFORNIA, Mo. (July 27, 2016) - Derek Hagar's podium streak was snapped at an astounding 16 races last weekend.

Hagar placed third on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., to extend the streak before an 11th-place result on Sunday at Double X Speedway ended it.

"It just wasn't meant to be the other night," he said. "We had a reality check. It helps you appreciate what you have."

The weekend began with Hagar advancing from seventh to fourth place in a heat race at Riverside International Speedway last Saturday. That lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

"The track was heavy early with no passing," he said. "We made some changes and made the car better for the feature. We got up to second, but couldn't seal off the position to get by the guy for second clean. I got to the outside and ahead of him, but I'd have had to chop him off pretty hard and I didn't want to tear up two race cars. He beat me off the corner and I had to fall back in line behind him."

The third-place result was Hagar's 26th top five of the season.

He then ventured to Double X Speedway to drive for David Korte during the ASCS Warrior Region event on Sunday. Hagar placed seventh in a heat race to start the main event 18th.

"We got up to 10th or 11th and we had a flat tire with about five laps to go and had to go to the back," he said. "We were having issues with the motor and trying to get drive out of the car. It's not acting like it did last year when I drove it. We fought trying to get grip and getting the motor to run. It had a stumble off the corners. We have to put on our thinking cap and figure out what's going on so we can help David."

Hagar ended with an 11th-place finish.

He is slated to return to action this Saturday at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., with the USCS Series.

QUICK RESULTS -
