Quick Look: Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track

TULSA, Okla. (September 9, 2014) - The Port-a-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship happens this Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real headlining the Texas sized event that includes Limited Modifieds both nights.

The night is also co-sanctioned with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region as well as the Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Region.

The 2014 event marks the third time the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour has been a part of the Port-a-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship, and the first time the Sprint Cars have been featured both nights.

Jason Johnson has topped the field in the series first two visits to the four-tenths mile oval. In the series inaugural visit in 2012, Jason charged from sixth to overtake Wayne Johnson on Lap 13. The win was also Johnson's 300th Lucas Oil ASCS A-Feature start. In 2013, Johnson was one of four drivers to lead laps, and it was the most important as the MVT No. 41 found Johnny Herrera bound up behind a slower car. On a track that suffered massive amounts of rain fall, the pair fell to the mercy of the ruts; causing the duo to collide on the exit of turn four for the victory.

Over the past two years, 60 drivers from 51 municipalities and 12 states (AR, AZ, CA, IA, KS, LA, MO, NM, OK, TN, TX, WA) have taken part in the Port-a-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship with 28 having competed in both Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event.
