Sooner Region returns to Outlaw Motorsports Park

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (September 3, 2013) The American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region returns to competition on Saturday, September 7 with the series return to the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Oktaha, Okla.

The three-eighths mile oval saw Jason Johnson capture the win in the series last outing at the Oklahoma oval on May 7, 2010.

One of only two dates remaining for in the 2013 lineup, the September 7 date will be the final standalone event for the American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region as the finale is paired with the Smiley’s Racing Products Lone Star Region on September 14 at the Kennedale Speedway Park.

Mike Goodman leads the charge into the Outlaw Motorsports Park with a slim 10 point margin over defending champion Matt Covington. The pair combines for three victories on the season with Covington holding two of those wins.

Joe Bob Lee holds third with Danny Wood and Shane Pace completing the top five in driver standings.
Events at the Outlaw Motorsports Park are slated to begin at 6:30 P.M. with Hot Laps for all classes. Pure Stocks, Factory Stocks, Grand Nationals, IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, and Outlaw Modifieds fill the card along with the Sooner Region.

ASCS Midwest Region goes three wide this weekend

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (September 3, 2013) The Speedway Motors Midwest Region takes to three ovals this coming weekend in Iowa and Nebraska with nearly $30,000 in prize money up for grabs.
Back to back $1,500 to win dates start at the half-mile Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Friday, September 6 with 305cid Sprint Cars and Vintage Cars completing the Friday lineup.

The three-eighths mile Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. on Saturday, September 7 will combine ASCS Midwest and NCRA drivers in the “Battle of the Winged Warriors”

The weekend concludes with the $5,000 to win Nebraska Cup at the one-third mile Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb. on Sunday, September 8 presented by the Nebraska Lottery and will feature SLMR Late Models in addition to the ASCS Midwest Region and NCRA.

Just off the Jackson Nationals, Jack Dover has reclaimed the points lead over Jordan Boston by 31 markers. Derrik Lusk, Tyler Drueke, and Gregg Bakker complete the top five in driver standings for the Speedway Motors Midwest Region.

Eagle Raceway will have the Pits open from 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. for the public to be able to meet the drivers and candidates for the Miss Nebraska Cup. Racing begins at 6:30 P.M. Kulhanek and Reutzel carry Gulf South title chase into Royal Purple Raceway

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (September 3, 2013) Counting down to the 2013 finale for the Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region, the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas welcomes the Gulf South Region back on Saturday, September 7.

The third visit of 2013 to the quarter-mile oval, this Saturday’s event is all that stands between the 2013 season finale at the Battleground Speedway in September 28. With that said, Ray Allen Kulhanek’s bid for consecutive titles is up for grabs as Aaron Reutzel has brought himself to only six points behind the No. 21t.

Taking the points lead by three at the Heart ‘O Texas in Waco before Kulhanek was able to sneak back by at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway, the season win total for Reutzel stands at five to go along with 10 podium finishes in the 18 races that have been contested.

While Ray Allen Kulhanek has a single win, coming at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park on March 1, the No. 21 has also place among the top three 10 times in 2013. Channin Tankersley currently holds third with the race for fourth tightening up between Beau Smith and Klint Angelette as the pair sit separated by 14 points.

The Woodforest National Bank ASCS Sprint Car Finals presented by Coushatta Casino Resort at the Royal Purple Raceway on Saturday, September 7 will have gates open at 6:00 P.M.
