ASCS Regions set for 17 events in 9 nights

TULSA, Okla. (June 25, 2014) - June into July shows no signs of slowing down for the regions that comprise the American Sprint Car Series as this coming weekend begins a stretch of nine consecutive nights of racing across the ASCS Nation.

Spread among the Gulf South, Northwest, Sooner, Southwest, and Warrior Regions, a total of 17 ASCS 360cid sanctioned events are scheduled from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, July 6.

The lion's share of events belongs to the ASCS Northwest Region with their Regional Speedweek kicking off on Sunday, June 9 in Yreka, Cali. and ending Saturday, July 5 in Cottage Grove, Ore. The first five nights will pay $2,000 to win with the final night getting a boost to $2,500 to win.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region offers up four nights with each paying $1,776 to win plus a $2,500 bonus to win all four nights of the Tiger Towing Red, White, and Blue Series with support from Xtreme Paint and Body, Yeager's Harley Davidson, Putnam Chevrolet, and Midwest Specialty Flooring going Thursday, July 3 through Sunday, July 6.

The Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region offers up three nights starting Thursday, July 3 through Saturday, July 5 with each paying $2,000 to win plus a $500 bonus to win two of the three nights, or $1,000 to sweep the weekend.

The American Bank of Oklahoma kicks off the week on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 in Kansas against the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) with each night paying $2,000 to win.

ASCS Southwest has two nights at either end of the week in Tucson and Queen Creek with each paying $1,250 to win. Tucson races on Saturday, June 28 with Queen Creek in action on Saturday, July 5.

Winner's share plus potential bonuses alone exceed $35,000 for the nine nights of racing with over 150 drivers expected to take part in ASCS competition over the next week as Regional competition heads to 15 ovals across six states.

• Dodge City Raceway Park - Dodge City, Kan. (ASCS Sooner vs. NCRA) - After the closing of the Great American Dirt Track in Jetmore, Kan. the Steve King Memorial has found a new home at the Dodge City Raceway Park. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 P.M. (CT). and includes the 305cid United Rebel Sprint Series. Admission is $20. • Tucson International Raceway - Tucson, Ariz. (ASCS Southwest) - Round three of 2014 at the Arizona oval, the Jim Allen Memorial is scheduled to begin at 6:45 P.M. (MT). • 81-Speedway - Park City, Kan. (ASCS Sooner vs. NCRA) - Round two of the ASCS / NCRA face-off, the “Harvest of Gold Challenge” at the 81-Speedway just north of Wichita kicks off at 7:00 P.M. (CT). The last ASCS Sooner event held at 81-Speedway was on May 9, 2004 with Oklahoma City's Andy Shouse grabbing the win. Sunday night will also include the Mod Lites. Admission is $15. • Willamette Speedway - Lebanon, Ore. (ASCS Northwest) - The second of three trips to the Oregon oval in 2014, the Willamette Speedway hosts the Wednesday portion of the ASCS Northwest Regional Speedweek. Visiting on May 23, Washington's Jared Peterson grabbed the win ahead of Seth Bergman and Reece Goetz. Admission for the mid-week spectacular is $15 with kids five years of age and younger admitted free. Races begin at 6:00 P.M. • Cotton Bowl Speedway - Paige, Texas (ASCS Gulf South) - The second holiday weekend visit of the season to the Cotton Bowl Speedway, this year's Memorial Day Weekend visit saw Johnny Herrera park it in Victory Lane on May 23. • Arizona Speedway - Queen Creek, Ariz. (ASCS Southwest) - The sweeping one-third mile oval appears on the ASCS Southwest schedule five times in 2014 with the July 5 event marking the third appearance of the year. Two visits this season has yielded two first time winners with Bob Ream, Jr. topping action on March 15 followed by Alex Pettas who raced to victory on May 31. Saturday, July 5 gets underway at 8:00 P.M. (MT) and includes Pure Stocks, Mod Lites, and Bombers. Admission is $15 and kids six years of age and younger get in free. Round four for the Gulf South Region at the high-banked three-eighths mile oval, events at the Battleground Speedway round out a three-night stretch for the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region.
