Steve King Memorial tops Lucas Oil ASCS Weekend

(May 21, 2013) Paying tribute to the late Steve King, the 5th annual Steve King Memorial at Jetmore’s Great American Dirt Track will cap off a three race Midwest swing for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real this Memorial Day weekend beginning on Wednesday, May 22 at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. and Greenwood, Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway on Thursday, May 23..

Shortened from a two day event, to a single day show, the Steve King Memorial will take place on Saturday, May 25 but will include events on both Saturday and Sunday.

According to a schedule of events posted at http://www.tbjpromotions.com, Saturday will feature The Haun Museum display, Autograph sessions with Lucas Oil ASCS drivers, Remote Control Car Races, Hamburger Lunch, and Parade before capping the day off with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real at The Great American Dirt Track.

Sunday will feature the Open Wheel Golf Tournament at the Cheyenne Hills Golf Course beginning at 10:00 A.M. (CDT).

A Sooner Region event in 2011, The Steve King Memorial returned as a Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real date in 2012. Jason Martin opened the 2012 Steve King Memorial with a home state victory. Night two saw Brady Bacon wiring the night’s feature event for his third straight Steve King Memorial title.

Checking back to the first Steve King Memorial in 2009, opening night belonged to Travis Rilat with Jack Dover taking the final night’s check. Dover would take the 2010 prelim victory as well.
Events at the Great American Dirt Track are scheduled to open at 5:30 P.M. (CDT) with races getting underway at 7:30 P.M.

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (May 20, 2013) Memorial Day weekend has always been a busy one for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real and the regions that represent the ASCS Nation.

The 2013 edition of the summer kickoff weekend will carry on that tradition with a 10 events stretching from Wednesday, May 22 through Sunday, May 26.

The week’s schedule of races will encompass six states (Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, and Washington) with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV, Hose Advantage Store Southwest Region, Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region, Speedway Motors Midwest and Warrior Regions, as well as the Northwest Region in their 2013 opening weekend.
