Weekend Rewind: American Sprint Car Series

TULSA, Okla. (April 14, 2014) - This week's Weekend Rewind of the American Sprint Car Series heads to where it all began, so to speak, as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real took to the quick quarter-mile that is the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. on Saturday, April 12 for the series first of three events in 2014.

The fifth race night of the 2014 season, 43 drivers representing 10 states (AR, KS, LA, MO, MS, NM, OK, TN, TX, and WA) made the trip to I-30 Speedway for the Hammer Hill Showdown. The average car count per event for Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in 2014 stands at 40.

• Finally in Victory Lane - Affectionately known as "Screwdriver" to I-30 Speedway owner, Joe Clay, Sr. former ASCS Gulf South Champion, Aaron Reutzel, finally broke into victory lane with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real. The Clute, Texas driver had three previous podium finishes to his credit, including one second place showing on July 29, 2011 at California's Placerville Speedway. Saturday represented Reutzel's 59th A-Feature start against the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

• Change Up Top - The third different driver to lead the Lucas Oil ASCS driver standings in 2014, Jason Johnson's sixth place finish was enough to put the Stenhouse, Jr. Racing - Curb / Agajanian Performance Group No. 41 atop the driver standings by 11 over Tony Bruce, Jr.

• 150 A-Feature Starts - Johnny Herrera took the final transfer into Saturday's feature event during the first of two B-Features to mark the Albuquerque driver's 150th National A-Feature start. Gridding the MVT No. 45x twenty-first, Herrera advanced twelve spots to finish ninth. He is tied with Danny Lasoski for most cars passed in an A-Feature this season. Lasoski advanced 12 spots from sixteenth to fourth on March 1 at the Cocopah Speedway.

• Sean McClelland - The Tulsa driver finished runner up to Aaron Reutzel over the weekend, bringing his total podium appearances with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real to seven. McClelland has a single ASCS National Tour victory, coming on March 11, 2006 at the Houston Raceway Park.

• Best so far - Brad Loyet's first visit to the I-30 Speedway in a Sprint Car in 2012 started with the Missouri driver flipping off the top of Turn 3. On Saturday, the 2012 Brodix Rookie of the Year drove the Vacuworx Global No. 05 to a third place finish, his best so far at the I-30 Speedway.

• April Showers - Mother Nature was at it again this past weekend, forcing the postponement of the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region 2014 opener from Sunday, April 13 to Friday, April 18 at the West Siloam Speedway. Saturday will see the Sooner Region in action again, this time with the Speedway Motors Warrior Region as they open up their 2014 season at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo.

• Crawley the Mini Stock King - Tim Crawley pulled double duty over the weekend, taking the Mini Stock class to school with a convincing victory. Jumping back into Mike Ward's No. 88, Crawley drove from twentieth to eleventh with the Lucas Oil ASCS.

On Deck: The regions of the ASCS Nation take center stage this coming weekend as the American Bank of Oklahoma opens their season on Friday at the West Siloam Speedway in West Siloam Springs, Okla. Saturday will see the region paired with the Speedway Motors Warrior Region at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo.

The Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region is back in action on Friday at the Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco. Saturday, the Gulf South Region heads to the Gator Motorplex in Willis.
