$5000 to win Modified Spring Scramble This Weekend!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – April 1, 2013 - What has been talked about for months among the modified contingent is finally upon us as the inaugural “Modified Spring Scramble” paying $5000 will be held this coming weekend, April 5-6, at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division will kick off their 2013 race season.  There will be a special practice session on Thursday night, April 4th, for all modified and sport mod drivers who are planning on competing.

Note on special start time: Due to Wichita’s Wichita State University playing in College Basketball’s Final four tournament, start time both Friday and Saturday night will be 8:00 PM.

A huge $5000 to win is on the line for Saturday night’s championship feature winner with all twenty-four drivers making the finale earning $750. And this huge two day event is not based on car count. In fact, what is posted on the flyer is what will be paid out. That includes the following for Saturday night’s finale:
A Feature: 1) $5000, 2) $3000, 3) $2000, 4) $1500, 5) $1000, 6-24) $750
B Feature: 1-5) Transfer to “A,” 6) $500, 7) $450, 8) $400, 9) $350, 10) $300, 11) $250, 12) $200, 13-15) $150, 16-20) $125, 21-24) $100
Last Chance Feature: 1-4) Transfer to “B.” 5-20) $100

Below is the itinerary for both nights: 
·         All cars/drivers must draw for two (2) different heat races
·         Passing points will be added together to give you the starting position for Saturday night’s features
·         The top fourteen (14) drivers will be locked into the “A” feature with the top ten doing a redraw on Saturday night for starting spots in the 50 lap Championship finale

Official NCRA or USRA rules will be allowed and there is NO MIXING or rules.

Thursday night practice will be held from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM and all pit passes will be just $10. Anybody who wants to sit in the grandstands can do so for free. Gates will open on Friday night at 5:30 pm with racing set for a 8:00 PM start time. Championship Saturday night gates will also open at 5:30 pm with the start time moved to 8:00 pm.

Pre entries were encouraged and after the deadline came and went, forty-eight drivers from five states are entered. However, drivers had the option to pre enter or enter on race day and that number is expected to increase.

Among the entrants are former series champions Marc Hurd; Brian Powers; Brian Franz and John Allen. Former two-time series late model champion Al Purkey is also entered as we all former series modified south champions Gene Weaver and Mickey Lassiter. Since 1971 the NCRA has sanctioned dirt track races across the Great Plains with the series currently sanctioning five other divisions. They include modifieds, southern sport modifieds, late models, 360 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and new mod lites. The 2013 season for the National Championship Racing Association is the 43rd anniversary season with races scheduled at sixteen different race tracks across Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri.
