Beebe, Arkansas (09/01/10) – With the 4th Annual Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service Midsouth Dirt Track Championship rapidly approaching at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas), the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model Series is proud to announce that the event will boast the richest one day payout in the tour’s history. In addition, it has been announced that the COMP Cams MSRA competitors will be racing topless, less their roofs, for the big event on Saturday, September 18th.

The 4th Annual Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service Midsouth Dirt Track Championship will now feature a $3,500 to win/$400 to start main event on Saturday, September 18th. Several companies and individuals including Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service, COMP Cams, MSR Mafia, Chris Ellis, and Cary Jones have added the additional money to the purse to make this event the biggest ever. The complete payout is as follows:

1)$3,500 2)$2,000 3)$1,200 4)$1,100 5)$1,000 6)$750 7)$600 8)$475 9)$450 10)$425 11-20)$400

With the biggest purse in the history of the tour on the line, the roofs have been blown off the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Models as they will be racing topless in the 40 lap event, which will allow fans to see inside the cockpits as the gladiators wage war around the ¼ mile oval. This will be the first time that the facility has hosted a topless, sanctioned Super Late Model event.

The event will part of the COMP Cams Memphis Nationals, which will not only see the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Models battling for a large purse, but also the Street Stock division, who will be going for a $1,500 to win/$100 to start purse. Also in action will be the Open Wheel Modified division. For more information, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com and www.MSRADirt.com .

Wendell Wallace Won At Beebe Speedway (Woody Hampton Photo)

Beebe, AR (08/27/10) – “The Batesville Bullet” Wendell Wallace outgunned the competition on Friday night at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) to gain his first COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model win of the 2010 season.

Via passing points, Jon Mitchell earned the JFR Graphics pole position for the 30 lap feature, which paid $2,000 to win.  He was joined on the front row by Shane Stephens.  Mitchell would snag the lead at the drop of the green flag as Billy Moyer Jr., Wendell Wallace, and Brandon Smith joined the pursuit.

Mitchell would lead early in the feature before rearend issues caused him to start slowing as the event progressed.  On an early race restart, Wendell Wallace would race past Mitchell to take the lead as Moyer Jr. soon followed to move into the third spot.  As Wallace and Moyer Jr. began to battle for the lead, a pair of drivers were on the move as 12th starting, Bill Frye, and 14th starting, Curtis Cook, worked through the pack.

As the race continued, Wallace would slowly begin to creep away from the pack and would go on to claim the feature win over Billy Moyer Jr., Bill Frye, Curtis Cook, and Joey Mack.

Heat race action was topped by Jon Mitchell, Billy Moyer Jr., Wendell Wallace, and Shane Stephens, while Terry Henson won the b-main.

Billy Moyer Jr. Wins Third COMP Cams MSRA Event of 2010 at NEA Speedway

Billy Moyer Jr. in Victory Lane with a RiceTec representative at NEA Speedway (Woody Hampton Photo)

Harrisburg, AR (07/31/10) – Round #2 of the RiceTec Summer Showdown for the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Models was held on Saturday night at Northeast Arkansas Speedway in Harrisburg, Arkansas, and it was defending series’ champion, Billy Moyer Jr., who claimed the win.

Twenty-nine Super Late Models entered the $2,000 to win event on the ¼ mile oval, which for the second time in 2010 would produce a phenomenal forty lap feature. Jon Kirby was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier, and he was joined on the front row by Bill Frye, who would use the cushion to take the lead at the drop of the green flag. Frye would lead the first two circuits before third starting, Billy Moyer Jr., pulled even with him on the third circuit. The duo would battle side-by-side for the lead for two laps before Moyer Jr. assumed the lead for good on the fifth lap.

As Moyer Jr. began to inch away from the field Kirby and Frye began to wage a great battle for the second spot. Lap 10 would see top five runner and current COMP Cams MSRA point’s leader, Kyle Beard, slip off the back stretch causing him to fall to the 14th spot. Over the next several laps he would methodically begin to work his way back through the field.

Near disaster would strike for second place runner, Bill Frye, on lap 22, as he jumped the cushion and ran off the track, causing him to lose several spots before he was able to recover. However, caution would wave on the same lap as a car at the back of the pack spun. As a result, with the field reverted to the previously completed lap, Frye would resume the second spot.

Over the remainder of the event, Moyer Jr. would enjoy a comfortable lead as Kyle Beard found his way back into the top five with ten laps remaining and with a few laps left in the feature would race his way past Bill Frye for the second spot. However, he would run out of time in trying to catch Moyer Jr., who went on to claim his third tour triumph of the 2010 season. Beard, Frye, Kirby, and Jon Mitchell rounded out the top five.

Heat races for the twenty-nine car field were won by Rodney Melvin, Bill Frye, Jon Kirby, and Billy Moyer Jr. Todd Hall and Eric Turner won the twin b-mains, while Terry Henson and Eddie Provence utilized series’ provisionals to start the feature.

Joey Mack was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after racing his way from his 18th starting position to an 8th place finish.

The Quartermaster Hard Luck Award went to Terry Henson, who had the fan blade break in the feature, knocking the plug wires loose, which brought his night to an end..

The COMP Cams Top Performer was Billy Moyer Jr.

The COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model tour will host Round #3 and Round #4 of the RiceTec Summer Showdown next weekend as the series invades USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana) on Friday and I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) on Saturday. Billy Moyer Jr. Wins Again in COMP Cams MSRA Action At Riverside

West Memphis, Arkansas (04/10/10) – In 2009, Billy Moyer Jr. picked up his first ever special event win at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, and on Saturday night he returned to the scene of the crime and made a repeat performance in COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model action.

Twenty-five Super Late Models, representing five states, were on hand on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway, where a great racing surface greeted the competitors.  Joey Mack from Benton, Missouri powered his #97m Rocket Chassis to a heat race win and along the way accumulated the most passing points to earn the JFR Graphics Pole Position for the $2,000 to win, 40 lap feature.  East Prairie, Missouri driver, Jeff Sloan joined Mack on the front row.

As the green flag flew Mack bolted to the lead with Jeff Floyd, Billy Moyer Jr., Jamie Dacus, and Sloan in tow.  The first caution flag of the event would fly on lap 3 as Dewaine Hottinger slowed with a flat tire after contact with another competitor.  At the time of the caution the top five running order consisted of Mack, Floyd, Moyer Jr., Dacus, and Sloan.
On the ensuing restart, Moyer Jr. would move past Floyd for the second spot as he set his sights on the leader.  Three laps later, Moyer Jr. would pull even with Mack for the top spot and would finally take the lead exiting turn four on the sixth circuit.  As Moyer Jr. took possession of the top spot, Mack and Floyd began battling side by side for the second spot, and by lap 9, Floyd would make the runner-up position his own.

The leaders would encounter lapped traffic by lap 10, which allowed Floyd to close in on Moyer Jr.  Moyer Jr. would narrowly avoid disaster exiting turn four on lap 11, when he attempted to lap Jon Kirby on the lowside as Kirby tried to turn into the infield.  After minimal contact Moyer Jr. would recover, but not before Jeff Floyd raced past him for the lead.  The top duo would continue to navigate heavy traffic, and on lap 16 Moyer Jr. would find his way back to the lead as Floyd slipped to the second spot with Dacus and Mack battling for the third spot.

The race would continue to endure a long green flag run until Cody Caldwell brought out the caution on lap 25.  As the field prepared for what would be the final restart, the top five running order consisted of Moyer Jr., Floyd, Dacus, Mack, and Jon Mitchell.  On the restart, Floyd’s hopes for victory would go up in smoke as the powerplant expired in his entry sending him to the infield.  With Floyd pitside, Dacus moved up to second, but Moyer Jr. had already begun to drive away from the field.  With Moyer Jr. enjoying a comfortable lead, a man on the move was 16th starting Kyle Beard, who was up to the 6th position by lap 30.  Over the next few laps he would get to the 4th position.

The remainder of the event would go caution free with Billy Moyer Jr. picking up his second win of the weekend, and fourth career COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model win.  Jamie Dacus, Joey Mack, Kyle Beard, and Austin Rettig rounded out the top five finishers.

Heat races were won by Joey Mack, Jeff Sloan, Billy James, and Jeff Floyd.  Cody Caldwell and Kyle Beard topped the twin b-mains.

Kyle Beard was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from his 16th starting spot to an 4th place finish.

The Quartermaster Hard Luck Award went to Jeff Floyd, who saw his chances of victory go up in smoke when his motor expired on lap 27.

The COMP Cams Top Performer was Billy Moyer Jr.

The COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model tour will take a week off from racing before returning to action on Friday, April 23rd at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri before moving to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday, April 24th.  For more information on the events, please visit www.MaldenSpeedway.com, www.I-30Speedway.com, and www.MSRADirt.com

Billy Moyer Jr. Conquers COMP Cams MSRA Season Opener at Beebe Speedway

Beebe, Arkansas (04/09/10) – After surviving a lap one melee and an early battle with Dane Dacus, Billy Moyer Jr. took the lead on the second circuit and never looked back en route to the $2,000 feature win on Friday night in the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model season opener at Beebe Speedway in Beebe, Arkansas.

Twenty-three Super Late Models, representing four states, entered the 2010 season opener for the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model tour. After accumulating the most passing points in heat race action, it was Lakeland, Tennessee’s Dane Dacus, who earned the JFR Graphic Pole Qualifier Award for the main event. Joining Dacus on the front row for the 30 lap feature was Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas.

As the field headed into turn one on the first lap, Dacus held a narrow advantage over Kirby, Moyer Jr., and Christian. However, disaster would strike as Kirby and Dacus made contact in the middle of turns one and two, causing the pair to spin in front of the field. Several other cars were caught in the accident including Jack Sullivan, Wendell Wallace, Bill Frye, and Joey Mack. All of the cars with the exception of Kirby, who received heavy front end damage, were able to continue.

With a blocked track due to the incident COMP Cams MSRA officials decided to have a complete double file restart with all drivers retaining their original starting position, so Dacus reassumed his position at the front of the field as Billy Moyer Jr. joined him on the front row. The second attempt to get the race underway would go much better as Dacus and Moyer Jr. battled side by side for the lead with Christian, Sullivan, and Wallace in tow. Dacus led the first lap before Moyer Jr. inched ahead for the lead as the field completed the second lap.

Over the next few laps Moyer Jr. would extend his advantage to five car lengths as the leaders began to catch the tail of the field. By lap 12 Moyer Jr. was working on heavy lapped traffic as he struggled to put Austin Rettig down a lap. Moyer Jr.’s difficulty in lapped traffic allowed Dacus to close in on his rear decklid as the pair raced nose-to-tail through traffic.

On lap 17 Moyer Jr. would finally get past Rettig as he began to lap cars at will, which allowed him to pull away from Dacus. Moyer Jr. would go on to lead the final 13 laps to take the win over Dane Dacus, Gary Christian, Jack Sullivan, and Wendell Wallace as he picked up his third career COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model win.

Heat races were won by Dane Dacus, Gary Christian, Jon Kirby, and Billy Moyer Jr. The b-main event was won by Charlie Cole.

Bill Frye was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from his 13th starting spot to an 8th place finish.

The Quartermaster Hard Luck Award went to Jon Kirby after his lap one troubles brought his night to a disappointing, early end.

The COMP Cams Top Performer was Billy Moyer Jr.
