June 20th, 2010 - On Sunday night, the team made their first ever trip to Wilmot Speedway in Wilmot, Wisconsin for Round #5 of the Summernationals. In time trials, Bub was third fastest and went on to start third in his heat race. He would quickly bolt to the lead in the heat and went on to claim the win. In the redraw for the feature, he drew the second starting position. He battled in the top five for the first half of the race before contact from Shannon Babb just after the halfway point sent him spinning. He would recover to record a 12th place finish.
June 19th, 2010 - Bub was back in action at Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday night with a $10,000 prize on the line. Bub finished 3rd in his heat to earn the 10th starting spot for the main event. He would battle around midpack for the entire event before ultimately recording a 10th place finish.
June 18th, 2010 - With round #3 of the UMP Summernationals at Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday night, forty-three cars entered the event, and Bub got behind the eight ball early by qualifying 8th fastest in his group, which pinned him with the 8th starting spot in his heat race. However, he didn't let that hold him back as charged through the field to take the fourth and final transfer spot on the white flag lap. He went on to start 16th on the feature grid, but would retire early from the event with mechanical issues.
June 17th, 2010 - The team traveled to Kankakee Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois on Thursday night for Round #2 of the UMP Summernationals. Forty eight Super Late Models entered the $5,000 to win, 40 lap event. After starting sixth in his heat race, Bub raced to a third place finish to pick up the 9th starting spot for the main event. In the feature he was running in the top ten on the 18th lap when he got into the turn four wall bringing his night to an early end.
June 16th, 2010 - Bub opened the 2010 Hell Tour (aka UMP Summernationals) on Wednesday night at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. With a stout field of 50 competitors from across the country on hand, Bub raced his way to a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the ninth starting position in the $5,000 to win, 40 lap Hoosier Dirt Classic feature. He would enjoy a strong run in the feature to pick up a sixth place finish behind event winner, Billy Moyer, Mike Marlar, Jack Sullivan, Greg Johnson, and Jeep Van Wormer.
June 13th, 2010 - McCool Motorsports made the long trip to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio over the weekend for the 16th Annual Dream 100. The $100,000 to win event drew 104 cars, and via time trials, Bub started 8th in his heat race on Saturday night. Despite starting deep in a talent-laden field, Bub would mount a charge to the 4th position by the time that the checkered flag dropped on the heat, which left him one spot short of a transfer to the feature. Via his heat finish, he earned the pole starting position for the b-main event. However, before the b-main event could be run, heavy rain set in forcing the balance of the program to be moved to Sunday afternoon. When action resumed on Sunday, Bub would find the going to be rough early in the b-main before rebounding to a 6th place finish, which earned him the 23rd starting position in the 100 lap finale. He would battle around midpack for the first 28 laps of the event before making the decision to retire to save his equipment, and was credited with a 23rd place finish.
June 6th, 2010 - Bub debuted his brand new #57J Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer over the weekend in a pair of Northern All Star Super Late Model events. The weekend opened on Friday at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky with a $5,000 to win event that drew 38 entries. He raced his way into the 11th starting spot in the main event, and would ultimately record a 12th place finish in his debut in the new car.
On Saturday, Bub made his first trip to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri in several years for another $5,000 to win Northern All Stars event. After winning his heat race, he started outside front row for the feature. He would battle in the top five for much of the event before recording a solid 6th place finish at the checkered flag!
May 30th, 2010 - Sunday night at Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois was another frustrating night for the team. Bub took part in the $10,000 to win,, FedEx 50 at the 1/3 mile oval. Forty-one Super Late Models signed in for battle and once again Bub would struggle in time trials with an ill-handling car. After starting 8th in his heat race he picked up a 6th place finish to give him a decent starting spot for a b-main. However, the track locked down to the bottom for the b-main event, and McCool was unable to advance to a transfer spot.
May 29th, 2010 - Bub entered the 18th Annual DART Show Me 100 over the weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The $30,000 to win event saw 73 cars entered, and McCool would get behind the eight ball early in the weekend as he struggled in time trials, which left him starting deep in the field in a stacked heat race. He would advance a few spots in the heat race, but still had to start midpack in a b-main. In the b-main he would once again pass a few cars, but would ultimately fall short of transferring for the feature event.
May 23rd, 2010 - Sunday night found the team at 34 Raceway for another $10,000 to win, Lucas Oil Late Model Series Event. With 40 Super Late Models on hand, Bub fell just short of transferring to the main event via heat race action, and for the second straight night would win his b-main event. After starting 18th in the feature, he picked up three spots to finish 15th.
May 22nd, 2010 - After having Friday's show at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa moved to Sunday evening due to rain, Bub entered the $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Series event at Lasalle Speedway in Lasalle, Illinois on Saturday night. The evening got off to a rough start when the steering broke in Bub's car entering the corner on his qualifying lap. He would slam into the wall, destroying the car. After unloading his backup car, he would win his consolation event to earn the 19th starting spot for the main event. He went on to advance to a 12th place finish.
May 16th, 2010 - McCool Motorsports entered the O'Reilly All Stars event at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Shinnston, West Virginia on Sunday night. With 36 Super Late Models on hand, Bub qualified 13th fastest and was running third in the heat race, when he hit debris from another car, causing him to stop. As a result of his heat race misfortune, he was relegated to a b-main event, where he would claim a third place finish to qualify for the feature event. However, rains would set in before the feature could be run, forcing the cancellation of the program.
May 15th, 2010 - Bub was in action on Saturday night with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series for the first time ever at Wythe Raceway in Wythe Virginia. Forty-four Super Late Models entered the event, and Bub's night got off to a great start as he charged from the 5th starting spot in his heat race to take the win, which earned him the pole position for the $10,000 to win feature. The team was extremely excited about their chances for getting their first tour win, but disaster would strike on the seventh lap, while he was running second, as he had a water pump gasket blow, which brought his night to an early end.
May 8th, 2010 - McCool Motorsports enterd the Battle of the Swamp at Waycross Speedway in Waycross, Georgia over the weekend. Bub started 13th in the $10,000 to win/$500 to start event, and was up to the 7th position near the race's midway point, when he lost his power steering forcing him to retire from the event.
April 30th , 2010 - Bub returned to action tonight at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky in a $3,000 to win, UMP Super Late Model event. After finishing 3rd in his heat race, McCool started 13th in the feature. During the course of the event, he would battle his way to a fourteenth place finish.
April 24th, 2010 - Tonight's Lucas Oil Late Model Series event at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland was canceled by Mother Nature.
April 23rd, 2010 - Bub competed for the first time ever tonight at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series. A stellar field of 66 Super Late Models entered the $10,000 to win event. McCool raced his way to a 4th place finish in his heat race, which left him one spot short of transferring to the feature. After starting on the front row for his b-main event, he powered his way to the win, which gave him the 19th starting position for the main event. By the time that the checkered flag dropped on the feature, Bub was credited with a 19th place finish in the 26 car field.
April 21st, 2010 - Visit the Photos page from Bub's visit to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, Mississippi a few weeks ago. During the visit, he presented over 100 Easter Baskets to the children.
April 17th, 2010 - After spending a few weeks away from the track, Bub traveled to Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia for the $25,000 to win, Commonwealth 100, which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Super Late Models. McCool started the weekend in strong fashion by recording the 9th fastest lap in time trials among the stout field of 56 entries. Via his qualifying effort, Bub started second in his heat race and battled leader, Tim McCreadie for the entire race before recording a 2nd place finish. Via his second place finish, Bub locked into Saturday night's main event in the 9th starting spot. McCool would battle throughout the top ten for the entire event and was running 8th with only seven laps remaining when he had a tire go flat, which would relegate him to a 15th place finish.
March 27th, 2010 - Bub traveled to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana for Saturday night's $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Series Event. An outstanding field of 61 Super Late Models entered the event. Bub finished 6th in his heat race, and with only the top three cars transferring to the feature, he was relegated to a b-main event. In the b-main, after starting sixth he battled his way to a third place finish, but unfortunately only the top two cars transferred to the feature. McCool was unable to utilize a Lucas Oil Series provisional to start the feature as two drivers, who were higher in points, were forced to use them.
This Wednesday, March 31st, Bub and McCool Motorsports will be delivering 100 Easter baskets to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. This completes the 2009 Fundraiser program that the team spear-headed.
March 13th, 2010 - After seeing the Carolina Clash event at Gastonia, North Carolina canceled by rain, Bub headed back to Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on Saturday night for the $2,000 to win, P.R.O. Super Late Model Series event. Thirty-Eight Super Late Models entered the event, and with group qualifying in effect not only did McCool draw the biggest number in his group, but the biggest number overall, which left him qualifying dead last. Despite qualifying last, he blazed his way to the fastest time in his group and overall around the 1/3 mile oval. As a result, he started in the Southern Belle Pole Position for the 40 lap feature alongside Ronny Lee Hollingsworth. At the drop of the green flag, Bub bolted to the lead with Hollingsworth and Billy Moyer Jr. making it three wide for the lead. McCool lead the first seven laps before lapped traffic caused him to miss his groove in turn one allowing Hollingsworth to slip by for the lead. Bub would chase the leader for the next several laps before slipping back to the third position on lap 15 as Chris Wall moved into the second spot.
A lap 20 caution set up a double file restart, and McCool made an incredible run on the cushion to rocket past Wall and Hollingsworth to take the lead exiting turn two. Bub would hold the lead for the next nine laps before disaster struck exiting turn two on the 29th lap, when he got into the backstretch wall. The contact with the wall damaged the rear-end of the #57J Super Late Model bringing his night to a disappointing early end.
March 7th, 2010 - Bub competed on Sunday afternoon at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina in another $10,000 to win, Lucas Oil Late Model Series event. McCool would once again race his way into the main event via a b-main to earn the 22nd starting position. Bub would be involved in a lap one altercation with Ray Cook. He was able to continue, but ultimately retired on lap 15 to a 22nd place finish.
March 6th, 2010 - McCool Motorsports entered the $10,000 to win, Lucas Oil Late Model Series event on Saturday night at Volunteer Spedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Forty-three drivers entered the event, where Bub would find himself behind the eight ball early in the program with a seventh place finish in his heat race. Via his finish he started 5th in a b-main event. He would race his way to a 3rd place finish in the b-main to earn a transfer spot to the 60 lap main event. Early in the race, Bub was not making much progress and opted to retire from the event to save his equipment. He was credited with a 22nd place finish.
February 27th, 2010 - Bub traveled to Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama over the weekend for the 13th Annual Bama Bash. McCool looked to shake the monkey off his back that followed him around the state of Florida during the course of the Winternationals. The $10,000 to win event drew 54 Super Late Models, and Bub would turn the third fastest lap in his group to earn the third starting spot for his qualifier. McCool would go on to finish second in his qualifier to Stacey Holmes, which earned him the seventh starting spot for Sunday's 75 lap feature. In the main event, Bub would pick off a pair of positions to record a 5th place finish behind race winner, Ray Cook, Chris Wall, Randy Weaver, and Ronnie Johnson.
February 10th, 2010 - After losing Tuesday night's program to Mother Nature, Bub returned to action in the UMP DIRTCar Nationals on Wednesday night at Volusia Speedway Park. The $7,000 to win event saw 68 Super Late Models sign in for battle, and McCool qualified 8th fastest in his group to start 8th in his heat race. During the course of the heat, he picked off four spots to record a 4th place finish, which was spot short of a transfer to the feature event. As a result, Bub started on the front row in his b-main and would unfortunately battle the handling on the #57J as he faded from a transfer spot to fall short of transferring to the feature.
February 8th, 2010 - Bub entered the first night of the UMP DIRTCar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park tonight, which was highlighted by a $7,000 to win event. The event drew 67 Super Late Models, and Bub qualified 8th fastest in his group to earn the 8th starting spot in his heat race. He advanced two spots to a 6th place finish in his his heat race, which left him three spots short of a transfer and lined him up 5th in his b-main. Early in the b-main, Bub would get as high as the 3rd spot before fading to a 5th place finish in an event that only transferred to the top two cars to the feature.
February 6th, 2010 - After losing Friday night's program to Mother Nature, the $10,000 to win event was rescheduled for early Saturday afternoon. With 49 Super Late Models entered into the event, the curse of the time trials struck McCool again as he qualified at the back of his group, pinning him with a starting spot deep in a heat race. On a track that lended itself to little passing Bub would fail to qualify for the main event.
Saturday night's program would see things get off to a more favorable start for McCool as he qualified 9th fastest in his group in time trials. Via his qualifying effort he would start 5th in his heat race, but would struggle to a 9th place finish, which left him starting ninth in a b-main. In the consolation event, Bub would mount a charge to the front, and would take the final transfer spot with a few laps remaining, but would see it slip away from him on the white flag lap as Tim Fuller raced back past him, leaving McCool one spot short of a transfer to the feature.
February 4th, 2010 - Thursday night served as the official opener for the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Series as action got underway at East Bay Raceway in Tampa, Florida. Luck would not be on Bub's side again tonight as mechanical woes sidelined him in his heat race, and he opted to not run the b-main event.
February 3rd, 2010 - Bub's night at Volusia on Wednesday got off to a fair start as he timed in 14th fastest in his group to earn the 7th starting spot in his heat race. However, an 8th place finish in the heat race would see him starting deep in a b-main, which he failed to transfer from. However, the night would not be over for McCool as he put on a dominant performance in the Strawberry Dash for nonqualifiers as he took the win and picked up the 25th starting position for the 30 lap feature. He would go on to march his way around the cushion to a 13th place finish!
February 2nd, 2010 - Forty-three Super Late Models entered Round #2 of the Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park on Tuesday night, which posted a $5,000 winner's purse. For the second night in a row, McCool got behind the eight ball in time trials as he qualified 16th fastest, which pinned him starting deep in a heat race. After finishing 7th in his heat race, he started 8th in the b-main, and advanced to a sixth place finish, which left him two spots short of qualifying for the night's main event.
February 1st, 2010 - Bub opened the 2010 Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park on Monday night with a $5,000 to win event. With 42 Super Late Models on hand, McCool struggled early in the night in time trials and was 17th fastest in his group, which put him starting 9th in his heat race. He would rocket his way to a 5th place finish in his heat race, which was one spot short of a transfer to the feature, but did earn him the pole starting position for a b-main event, which he won. He went on to start 18th in the feature and advanced to a 13th place finish by the time that the checkered flag dropped.
January 5th, 2010 - Bub McCool proudly presented the Make-A-Wish Foundation with $5,100 on Monday, January 4th. The money was raised throughout the course of the 2009 season via raffle tickets, t-shirt sales, and donations. The $5,100 was enough to grant a complete wish to a sick child via the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition, the McCool family will be taking Easter baskets to the Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, Mississippi in April. The entire McCool family would like to extend their great appreciation to everyone, who helped make this fundraiser a great success.
November 28th, 2009 - Bub entered the 9th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix at Columbus Speedway over the weekend for his final two events of the 2009 season. On Friday night, with 30 Super Late Models on hand, Bub qualified fastest in his group to earn the outside front row starting spot for the 30 lap, $2,000 to win event. At the drop of the green flag, McCool bolted to the lead with pole sitter, Chris Wall in pursuit. Bub would lead the first six laps on a very slick track before Wall slipped by on the high side to take the lead. During the course of the remainder of the event, McCool would slip back one more spot to a 3rd place finish behind race winner, Chris Wall, and Riley Hickman.
On Saturday night, a fresh program was contested, and Bub set second fast time in his group to lock into the sixth starting spot for the 40 lap feature, which boasted a $3,000 winner's purse. Bub was battling for the fourth position near the race's midway point when contact with Larry Boutwell sent both competitors spinning. McCool would head pitside with a flat left front tire and body damage. He would return to the track later in the event (a few laps down) to test a setup. He was ultimately credited with a 15th place finish.
November 7th, 2009 - McCool Motorsports was in action at the 6th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin' 100 over the weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. With a $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start purse posted, Bub set second fast time in his group and went on to win his heat race to earn the sixth starting spot for the 100 lap feature. During the first half of the race, McCool would get as high as the third position before making contact with the wall on a lap 57 restart. The damage from the contact with the wall effected the handling on the car, and Bub would ultimately fade to an 11th place finish. |
