For the 2008 season, he will be principally focusing on the track championship at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas in the 360 Winged Sprint Car division and the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division.

November 14th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports entered their final event of the 2009 season over the weekend at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas with the Hensley Suzuki USCS Fall Nationals. On Friday night, Jan locked into the K&N Filters Pole Dash after recording a solid qualifying time. He finished second in the dash to earn the outside front row starting position for the first of two, 25 lap feature events. During the course of the $2,500 to win race, Jan would battle in the top five, and by the time that the checkered flag dropped he was shown in the third position.

For the second, 25 lap feature, the finishing order from the first feature was completely inverted, so Jan started in the 20th position. He would quickly make his way to the top ten in the event and would ultimately finish in the 8th position.

Jan also entered the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division, which boasted a $1,000 top prize. After starting second in his heat race, Howard raced his way to the win to earn the pole starting position for the K&N Filters Pole Dash. He would finish a close second in the dash to Corey Ray, which resulted in Howard starting second in the feature. At the outset of the 25 lap feature, Derek Hagar shot to the lead with Howard in tow. Jan would pursue Hagar for the first 22 laps of the race before disaster struck when the leader, Hagar, was taken out by a lap car, which also collected Howard. Jan did not receive substantial damage, but was forced to the back of the pack. He was able to advance back to an 11th place finish in the last few laps of the event.

November 7th, 2009 - Jan entered the 22nd Annual O'Reilly Short Track Nationals over the weekend at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. With 101 Sprint Cars on hand for the event, Howard would battle the setup on his #4x Sprinter all weekend. He would fail to transfer to the preliminary feature event on his qualifying night on Friday night. On Saturday night Jan would battle for the final transfer spot in his qualifier, but would finish in the second position at the checkered flag, and with only the winner transferring to the feature, his weekend came to an early end.

October 25th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports entered the 3rd Annual Trick or Treat Nationals on Sunday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. Jan started the night by racing from his fourth starting position to a third place finish in heat race action. Via passing points, Howard locked into the 12th starting position for the 30 lap feature event. During the course of the event, Jan would battle his way to a solid, tenth place finish.

October 3rd, 2009 - Jan entered the 34d Annual COMP cams Grass Root Nationals on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. Howard, who was the defending champion of the event, saw his night get off to a great start as he earned the RE Technologies Fast Qualifier honors over a field of 23 entries. Jan's luck started to go downhill from there as he drew a four car inversion for heat race action, which pinned him starting fourth in his heat race.

In the heat, Jan would advance to a second place finish behind his brother, Dale Howard to earn the 5th starting spot for the feature event. Howard battled throughout the top five in the early stages of the caution-plagued event before disaster struck as the event approached its midstages when Jan jumped the cushion exiting turn two and flipped once. Jan would be uninjured, but his night would come to a disappointing early end.

September 26th, 2009 - Jan traveled to the Ralph Henson Memorial on Saturday night at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas for what turned out to be "just one of those nights". In heat race action, things got headed in the wrong direction in a hurry as Jan found himself upside down. He would receive minimal damage and would start at the tail of the b-main. However, bad luck would find him again as drive shaft trouble side-lined him.

September 19th, 2009 - The team traveled to Tri City Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana tonight for the $10,000 to win, Haubstadt Hustler 50, MSCS 410c.i. Wingless Sprint Car event. The event drew 48 of the nation's top pilots. Jan would get behind the eight ball in qualifying, which pinned him with a starting spot deep in his heat race. He would fail to transfer from his heat race, and in the c-main he would fail to transfer to the b-main.

September 12th, 2009 - Jan raced his way to the feature win in the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. Howard started third in his heat race and raced his way to the heat win. Via the win, Jan earned the pole position for the feature event, which he went on to lead flag-to-flag to pick up his seventh triumph of 2009 over a field of sixteen competitors.

September 5th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports was back in action with both cars in action at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday night. In the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division, Jan won his heat race from the fourth starting position to earn the pole position for the 20 lap feature. Howard would take advantage of the pole starting spot to charge to the feature win over Eddie Gallagher and Jeff Leach. The win was his sixth of 2009.

In the 360 Winged Sprint Car division, Jan started 12th in the feature after a sixth place finish in his heat race. In the 20 lap main event, Howard would battle his way through the pack to charge to a solid fifth place finish!

August 29th, 2009 - Jan was in action again at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night in what proved to be a very frustrating night. In the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division. After charging from his sixth starting position to win his heat race, Howard earned the pole position for the feature. He would go on to lead all twenty laps to take a convincing win over Dalton Davis and Eddie Gallagher. However, in post race inspection, Jan was disqualified because he did not have his scoring transponder on his car.

In the 360 Sprint Car division, sixteen entries were on hand, and Jan finished second in his heat race to earn the fourth starting spot for the twenty lap main event. He would race his way into the second position early in the event, and battled A.G. Rains to the checkered flag before settling for a second place finish.

August 22nd, 2009 - Jan enjoyed a great night tonight at Riverside international Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan finished seventh in the position, which resulted in him starting 21st in the feature. Despite starting deep in the field for the feature, Jan blasted his way to a 5th place finish by the time that the checkered flag fell!

In the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division, Jan won his heat race after starting second. Via his heat race win he earned the second starting position for the 20 lap feature in the twenty-four car starting grid. Jan would go on to take the lead at the drop of the green flag and never look back en route to the feature win, which was his fifth of the 2009 season!

August 8th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports returned to action on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas in his #46 305 Wingless Sprint Car. Twenty-one competitors were signed in for battle, and Jan would charge from his sixth starting position in his heat race to claim the win and earn the pole position for the 20 lap feature event. In the main event, he would battle an ill-handling car early on before rebounding for a third place finish behind Brian Bell and Eddie Gallagher.

July 26th, 2009 - Jan pulled double duty once again on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division, Jan would win his heat race and start 4th in the feature event. He would stage a great battle with Brian Bell and Eddie Gallagher, before racing his way to the front of the pack and going on to win the feature, which marked his fourth win of the 2009 campaign!

In the 360 Winged Sprint Car division, Jan had mechanical difficulties in his heat race and finished 8th. In the feature event, with 16 cars taking the green flag, Jan started 16th and advanced seven spots to record a 7th place finish!

July 18th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports entered the Weekly Racing Series Event at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday night. With eighteen 360 Winged Sprint Cars on hand, Jan started first in his heat race and slipped back as far as the fourth position before charging back to a second place finish. In the feature, he started 5th and would battle throughout the top five before recording a fifth place finish at the checkered flag.

July 11th, 2009 - Jan was back in action in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. After charging from the third position to win his heat race in convincing fashion, Jan started second in the feature alongside Brian Bell. The duo would stage a great battle during the race's early stages as they swapped the lead several times. Jan would take control of the top spot late in the race, and looked to be on his way to another win before disaster struck coming to the white flag when a pair of lap cars spun in front of him, causing him to flip once. Jan was uninjured, but he was done for the night with a very disappointing DNF.

July 5th, 2009 - After a rough night on Friday night in the first leg of the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series Rock and Roll 50 at Riverside International Speedway, which saw mechanical woes sideline him early in the program, Jan bounced back on Saturday night for night #2 with a much stronger performance. Howard started in the second position in his heat race on Saturday night and outgunned fellow front row starter Henry Gustavus Jr. to turn one to take the lead and never looked back on his way to the heat win. Via his heat race win, Jan locked into the feature event. During the course of the 50 lap event he would battle throughout the top 10 before recording a great 7th place finish against the talent-laden field at the 1/4 mile, gumbo oval.

June 27th, 2009 - Jan had another great night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division, Jan started 3rd in the feature via passing points after charging from 6th to 2nd in his heat race. In the feature, Howard would motor his way to the front early in the event, and never look back en route to another win. The win was his third triumph of the 2009 season.

June 20th, 2009 - On an extremely, hot and humid night, Jan entered two divisions at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division, Jan drew a large number at the pill draw, and as a result was forced to start 7th in his heat race. He would race his way to a 4th place finish in the ten lap qualifier, finishing just inches behind the third place finisher. In the feature event, Howard started in the sixth slot. Early in the event, he battled his way to the third position as he began to duel with Brian Bell and Brad Bowden for the top spot. He would wage war with the pair for the last half of the race before settling for a third place finish.

Jan also competed in the 360 Winged Sprint Car division. After finishing fourth in his heat race, he started 11th in the feature. On a hammer down race track, Jan would advance one spot to a 10th place finish in the 21 car field.

June 19th, 2009 - Jan traveled to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday night for an $800 to win 305 Wingless Sprint Car event. Jan would battle with Brian Bell for the lead for much of the event, before taking control of the top spot just past the halfway mark, and would go on to lead the remainder of the event, en route to his second win of 2009.

June 13th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports competed in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in an event that drew 23 entries. After starting third in his heat race, Jan raced his way to a second place finish, which earned him the 5th starting spot for the feature event. In the feature, which would be shortened by 10 laps due to excessive cautions, Jan would advance to a 5th place finish.

June 6th, 2009 - Jan competed in his #4x Lofton Motorsports 360 Winged Sprint Car tonight at Riverside International Speedway. Twenty-two Sprint Cars were on hand for the Weekly Racing Series Event. After finishing second in his heat race, Jan started 6th in the 20 lap feature. He would battle his way to a 4th place finish behind Terry Gray, Marshall Skinner, and Jeff Swindell.

May 30th, 2009 - Jan returned to action tonight at Riverside International Speedway. With 22 cars signed in for battle in the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division, Jan started second in his heat and blasted his way to the win, which earned him the third starting position for the 20 lap feature. Jan would fall back a few spots on the start after having to get on the brakes to avoid a car that nearly spun in front of him. However, it wouldn't take long for Jan to find his way to the second position as he began to pressure Brian Bell for the top spot. Howard would apply heavy pressure for the entire feature, including a daring move on the high side on the final lap in the final corner, but fell just short of overtaking Bell for the lead. Jan would record a strong 2nd place finish.

May 17th, 2009 - After losing several race nights to Mother Nature, Jan was finally able to return to work on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway, but luck would not be on his side. In the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division, with 22 entries on hand Jan would finish 2nd in his heat race, which earned him the 4th starting spot for the feature. However, bad luck in the feature would bring his night to an early end and a 20th place finish.

In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan's luck would not be any better. After finishing 5th in his heat race, he started 14th in the feature, and on a one lane track, he would retire early in the event to an 18th place finish.

April 24th, 2009 - Howard Motorsports made the last minute decision to compete with the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Friday night. With 38 Sprint Cars on hand, Jan would qualify in the 24th position, which earned him the 6th starting position for the fourth heat race. In heat #4, he would race his way to a 6th place finish, and with only the top four cars transferring to the feature, Jan was relegated to the b-main. He would start fourth in the b-main, and finish in the 3rd spot, which earned him the 3rd starting position in the coveted $10,000 to win main event. By the time that the checkered flag fell on the event, he was credited with a solid 19th place finish against the nation's best drivers.

April 11th, 2009 - Jan opened his 2009 season tonight at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, and he picked up where he left off in 2008, by racing his way to the feature win in the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division over a field of 17 competitors. In heat race action, Howard started in the 8th position and rocketed his way to take the win, which earned him the pole position for the feature event. In the feature, he would lead all 20 laps to take the win!

April 7th, 2009 - Jan Howard from Marion, Arkansas will open the 2009 season this Saturday, April 11th in the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. 

Jan is coming off a great 2008 season, which saw him run a limited schedule, but still manage to pick up nine feature wins in the Wingless 305 Sprint Car division and one win in the 360 Winged Sprint Car division.

The 2009 season will see Howard competing in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division in his #46 Brim’s Snack Foods/Howard Motorsports Maxim/Howard Racing Engine Sprinter.  In the Winged 360 Sprint Car division, Jan will pilot the #4x Lofton Motorsports/Maxim/Howard Racing Engine entry.  In addition to racing at Riverside International Speedway, he looks to travel a little more in 2009 than he did in 2008.

October 5th, 2008 - Jan picked up $1,450 in cash plus $500 in contingency awards last night for his efforts in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division at Riverside International Speedway in the 2nd Annual COMP Cams Grass Root Nationals. He started the night by setting quick time over the 27 entries on hand. Jan pulled the #2 inversion for the heat races, so he started second in his heat. He went on to win it as well as the $250 prize for winning the Dash for Cash. With his dash win, he earned the pole position for the 25 lap feature. Jan led all 25 laps en route to the win.

In the 360 Sprint Car division Jan finished 2nd in his heat race and via passing points, he earned the 2nd starting position for the feature event. Howard would chase Jeff Swindell for the entire 20 laps before settling for a 2nd place finish. This event was the final race of 2008 for Jan and Howard Motorsports.

September 28th, 2008 - Jan had another great night at Riverside International Speedway by winning the 305 Wingless Sprint Car feature! After starting 6th in his heat race, he blasted his way to the heat win, which earned him a 2nd starting position for the 20 lap feature event. Howard would fight a tight race car and the pressures of Eddie Gallagher to lead all twenty laps en route to the win. The victory marked his eighth of the 2008 campaign.

September 24th, 2008 - Jan will be looking to increase his win total by two this Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway.  He will be in action in his #4x Lofton Motorsports/Maxim/Dale Howard Racing Engine 360 Sprint Car and his #46 Howard Motorsports/Maxim/Dale Howard Racing Engine 305 Sprint Car.  For more information, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com .

September 14th, 2008 - Jan had a rought night last night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. He only competed in the 600cc Mini Sprint division in the $2,000 to win event. Jan would finish 8th in his heat race and 24th in the feature event.

September 7th, 2008 - Jan was scheduled to compete in three division at Riverside International Speedway last night, but after spending much of the week out of town, he did not have time to get his 305 Wingless Sprint and his 360 Winged Sprint Car ready for action. As a result, he only competed in the 600cc Mini Sprint division. Howard was behind the wheel of the #5 Brandon Morris owned entry. This marked Jan's first time in a 600cc Mini Sprint. He would start 13th in the feature before advancing to a solid 6th place finish. Jan used the event as a tune up for next Saturday's $2,000 to win Mini Sprint event at Riverside.

August 31st, 2008 - Jan Howard pulled double duty at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas last night. In the 305 Sprint Car division, Jan won his heat race and earned the pole position for the 20 lap feature event. He took the lead at the drop of the green flag and built a straight away lead over the field by the race's midpoint. He looked to be on his way to another feature win before a lapped car made contact with him and caused him to spin with only three laps remaining. Jan was credited with a 13th place finish. In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan started 4th in his heat race and advanced to a 2nd place finish. Howard started 3rd in the feature event and battled his way home to a 3rd place finish.

August 17th, 2008 - Jan competed last night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. On a track that lended itself to very little passing, Howard picked up a 7th place finish in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car feature event.

August 3rd, 2008 - Last night at Riverside International Speedway, Jan pulled double duty in both the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division and the 360 Winged Sprint Car division. In the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division, Jan started 4th in his heat race and advanced to a second place finish, which earned him the outside front row starting spot for the feature event. Jan snagged the lead at the drop of the green and went on to win the feature by half a track over the field. The win was his 6th of the year in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division and his 7th win overall on the season. In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan started 6th in his heat race and rocketed to a second place finish. Via passing points, Howard started outside front row in the 20 lap feature. Jan would battle in the top five throughout the event, while fighting a brake rotor on the left front that kept sticking.

July 19th, 2008 - Jan made the last minute decision to compete tonight at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, and it paid off as he won the 20 lap, wingless 305 Sprint Car event. Jan finished 2nd in his heat race, and via passing points earned the pole position for the feature event. He led flag to flag in the caution free feature for his fifth win of the year in the 305 Sprint Car division and his sixth win overall.

July 13th, 2008 - Jan made his return to the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. Howard finished 2nd in his heat race and then raced his way to a 3rd place finish in the 20 lap feature event.

July 6th, 2008 - Jan competed with the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars on Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway. Howard qualified 25th out of the 32 cars on hand. Jan battled an ill-handling car all night, and ultimately finished 11th in the b-main event, which prevented him from transferring to the feature event.

June 15th, 2008 - Jan was in action at Riverside International Speedway last night, where he recorded his fourth win of the season in the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division. He started 5th in his heat race and advanced to a 3rd place finish. Via passing points, Howard earned a 5th starting position for the feature event. Jan took the lead near the race's midway point, and never looked back on his way to the win.

May 31st, 2008 - Jan finally got over the hump and picked up his first 360 Sprint Car feature win of the year last night at Riverside Speedway. In the 305 Sprint Car division, he won his heat race, but a first lap melee sent him to the back of the pack. He charged back to a 7th place finish in the shortened event.

May 25th, 2008 - Jan was in action at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas last night behind the wheel of his #46 Maxim/Dale Howard Racing Engine 305 Sprinter, and he came away with his third feature win of the year over a 23 car field.

May 18th, 2008 - Jan pulled double duty again last night at Riverside. In the 305 Sprint Car division, he had trouble in his heat race with a broken front end, and was credited with an 8th place finish. As a result, he had to run the b-main event, and he won it. Via his b-main win, he started 18th in the feature, and charged his way to a 7th place finish. In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan finished 5th in his heat race and finished 6th in the feature event.

May 11th, 2008 - Riverside International Speedway was rained out on Saturday night, so Jan did not race this weekend.

May 4th, 2008 - Jan had a decent night at Riverside last night. In the 305 Sprint Car division, Jan started 7th in his heat race and advanced to a 2nd place finish. In the feature he started on the pole and battled side by side with race long leader Andy McElhannon before settling for a solid second place finish. In the 360 Sprint Car division, Jan battled a tight car all night and finished 10th in a field of 19 cars.

April 27th, 2008 - For the second week in a row, Jan Howard won the 305 Wingless Sprint Car feature at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. In the 360 Sprint Car division, bad luck found Jan again. He started on the pole for the feature after winning his heat race. However on the initial start, he got crossed up with another driver causing the two cars to tangle and come to a stop in turn one. Howard was able to restart but had to go to the back of the pack. He charged back to a 7th place finish. MORE

April 20th, 2008 - Jan kicked off his season last night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. He had a rough night behind the wheel of his #4x Lofton Motorsports 360 Sprinter. He finished 4th in his heat race and was charging through the pack in the feature when his front axle broke sending him into the back stretch wall. He was uninjured, but done for the night. In the 305 Wingless Sprint Car division, Howard would have much better luck. He finished 2nd in his heat race, which earned him a 3rd starting position for the feature. He took the lead at the drop of the green flag, and never looked back en route to the feature win.

April 6th, 2008 - Welcome to the launch of the Official Internet Home of Jan Howard from Byhalia, Mississippi. Jan is gearing up for the start of the 2008 season, and his first event will be the Wingless 305 Sprint Car at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday, April 5th.
