Garnertown Speedway 2007 Rules for: Hummers

  1. 1) 4 cylinder front wheel drive, No turbo or supercharger, No 4wd (all wheel drive) cars allowed. No Honda or Honda powered cars. No two-seater or sports car type allowed.
  2. Cars must have all exterior chrome, glass and mirrors removed.
  3. Must have a four Point Roll cage, 3 bars on the doors minimum.
  4. Must have working racing seat belt & harness. A racing seat is required.
  5. Tires- DOT- maximum 195 and minimum 70. Example: 195-75 or 175-70 or 165-75 – no 60’s or 50’s. All four tires must match.
    1. No racing tires, no grooving tires.
    2. Flat tires automatically disqualifies car for the event.
  6. WEIGHT
    1. All cars must weigh a minimum of 2,000 pounds with driver.
    2. Cars with a twin overhead cam engine must add 40 pounds.
    3. Cars with engines larger than a 2 liter (2.0 liter), i.e. 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, etc. must add 20lbs. per 10 th of a liter. Example a 2.2 liter must weigh 2,040, if this car is a twin cam engine it must weigh 2,080,
    4. All weight (lead) must be mounted inside drivers’ compartment with a minimum of two (2) 1/2 inch steel bolts. All weights are to be painted white with the car # painted on each piece. Any driver that looses any lead from his car will be disqualified.
    5. 4) Unfair Advantage: Any CAR deemed to have an unfair advantage may have to add weight or some other device to equalize competition
  7. Fuel cell or Marine type tank recommended. Must be securely bolted & shielded.
  8. Doors must be welded shut.
  9. No modifications on brakes or suspension. No shortening or lengthening of stock wheel base on either or both sides of car)
  10. Windshield screen or minimum of three safety bars mandatory.
  11. No modifications to engine of any kind. No headers (Computer Chips will NOT be allowed). All air must pass through throttle body. Must run stock ECU. Absolutely No Modifications to computer in any kind!
  12. Must have stock bumpers front and rear and must have tow hooks or chains on front and rear.
  13. Master disconnect (kill switch) on battery ground must be within easy reach of driver.
  14. Fire extinguisher required. Securely mounted & within easy reach of driver.
  15. Wings and spoilers are ok.
  16. Races will start from a rolling start at the front stretch.
  17. All restarts will be a rolling start from the cone.
  18. Top three finishers must go to tech area after race. ALL CARS SUBJECT TO TRACK OFFICIALS APPROVAL.
  19. Top 2 finishers start at the rear of the feature and the heat at their next race.
  20. Any driver finishing in the top 50% of the race may claim a 3-TIME winner’s complete car for a $750 “EXCHANGE”. (Meaning if a driver wins 3 feature races at GarnerTown (or more), on the third win (or any following win), the winning driver’s car may be bought for $750.00 plus the buyer’s car). The buying driver (with cash in hand) must notify track officials, that he/she wants to invoke the exchange rule, within 10 minutes after the conclusion of the Hummer feature race. If the feature contains an odd car count, the top 50% will be rounded down.
    1. Example: 13 cars start the feature. 50% of 13 = 7.5. To be eligible to buy the winner’s car, the buyer would have to have finished in the TOP 7
    2. Exchanging car must be of comparable to car being bought out in:
      1. Mechanical condition
      2. Same type of cam engine
        1. Single for single
        2. Twin for twin
      3. Appearance
      4. Safety
      5. The Track management (based on the four previous statements) must approve all exchange by outs.

You may keep your racing seat and belts.

No buy out the last three races for points.

All rules are subject to be changed by the track promoter. Any changes to be made will be given in advance of race.

This is designed to be a fun class that most anyone can afford to compete in . Cars will be required to remain completely stock. Looks will be the ONLY exception. You can make your car as colorful and/or funny as your imagination (NO PROFANITY OR SUGGESTIVE MATERIAL ALLOWED). Safety will be a major concern. The overall requirements are minimal in the hopes of keeping costs low. Anyone feeling these buyout cost are too low, may want to look at a pure street or mini stock class.
