Eric Cooley Pulls Double Duty at Magnolia

Fulton, MS (3/18/08) – Eric Cooley competed in the 2008 Season Opener at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on Saturday night.

Eric pulled double duty as he was behind the wheel of his #33c Mastersbilt Crate Late Model as well as his #33c Mastersbilt Late Model Stock.  He started 5th in the Late Model Stock heat race and charged to a 2nd place finish. In the feature, Cooley started 3rd and with 3 laps to go he was making a pass for the lead, when he had power steering problems, which caused him to ultimately fall back to a 3rd place finish. In the Crate Late Model heat race, Eric started 7th and finished in the 4th position. In the feature event, Cooley started 7th and recorded a respectable 5th place finish.

This weekend Eric and Cooley Motorsports will once again his the road as they head to Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, Alabama to compete in the $5,000 to win NeSmith Late Model Series event.  Cooley hopes to claim the 2008 NeSmith Late Model Series Rookie of the Year title and he will look to gain much needed ground in the chase this weekend.  Action gets underway on Friday night with time trials and heat races.  On Saturday night, consolation events as well as the 75 lap, $5,000 to win feature event will be held.  For more information on the event, please visit www.NeSmithRacing.com .
